Ryan Reynolds Shares Set Photos From The Adam Project | CBR

Ryan Reynolds pulled out a Thor: Ragnarok joke in a recent social media post featuring photos of himself and Mark Ruffalo on the set of The Adam Project.

Reynolds posted several behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram with the caption, "I have a friend from work too. But no matter how angry I make him, he stays the same size." The caption is a reference from when Avenger Bruce Banner/The Hulk showed up unexpectedly on Sakaar, surprising the God of Thunder who called him "a friend from work."

In the photos, Ruffalo and Reynolds are standing next to an overheated car in the aftermath of a car crash. A third photo showed the duo walking side-by-side, while a fourth photo showed the actors wearing masks between scenes on the film's set.

It was previously announced that Ruffalo will star as the father of Reynolds' character Adam Reed in the upcoming sci-fi film, The Adam Project. The official synopsis for the film reads,

Adam Reed, age 13, and still grieving the sudden death of his father a year earlier, walks into his garage one night to find a wounded pilot hiding there. This mysterious pilot turns out to be the older version of himself from the future, where time travel is in its infancy. He has risked everything to come back in time on a secret mission. Together they must embark on an adventure into the past to find their father, set things right, and save the world. The three working together, both young and grown Adam come to terms with the loss of their father and have a chance to heal the wounds that have shaped them. Adding to the challenge of the mission, the two Adams discover they really don’t like each other very much, and if they’re going to save the world, they’re first going to have to figure out how to get along.

In addition to portraying the father-son duo in The Adam Project, fans speculated that Reynolds and Ruffalo will appear together in a future MCU film. While Ruffalo has portrayed Bruce Banner/The Hulk since 2012's The Avengers, it was recently announced that Reynolds' portrayal of Wade Wilson/Deadpool will be introduced to the MCU in the upcoming Deadpool 3. It's unclear at this time if -- or when -- Ruffalo and Reynolds' superhero characters will come face-to-face.

Directed by Stranger Things' producer Shawn Levy and written by Jonathan Topper, The Adam Project stars Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana and Catherine Keener. Netflix has yet to give the film an official release date.
