Grimmjow was once the 6th Espada, a mighty Arrancar with a panther-like released form. He took it upon himself to slay Ichigo Kurosaki when Ulquiorra Schiffer failed to finish the job, though Grimmjow has faced other foes, too. When Grimmjow picks a fight with a worthy foe, can he see it through to the end? He usually does.

10 Grimmjow Vs Ichigo In Karakura Town's Nighttime Streets (First Fight)

Early in the Arrancar arc, Ichigo is still struggling with his Inner Hollow, and then another problem arrived: the mighty Espadas. Ichigo had to be rescued when Ulquiorra and Yammy Llargo fought him, and soon after that, Grimmjow took his turn.

Sosuke Aizen never authorized Grimmjow's mission, but that didn't deter Grimmjow at all. The 6th Espada ordered his fracciones to fight Ichigo's friends, leaving the way clear for Grimmjow to face Ichigo directly in honorable combat.

9 Winner: None (Kaname Tosen Interrupted The Fight)

Grimmjow had a clear advantage during his and Ichigo's first duel, partly because Grimmjow could keep up with Ichigo's remarkable bankai while boasting superior reflexes and strength. Grimmjow didn't even need to draw his own zanpakuto to put pressure on his opponent.

At the last moment, Ichigo wounded Grimmjow with a surprise Getsuga Tensho, and Grimmjow prepared to draw his blade at last. That was when the ex-Captain Kaname Tosen arrived, escorting the rogueish Grimmjow back to Las Noches.

Grimmjow lost an arm as punishment for his little jaunt to Karakura Town, but he didn't dare give up on his mission. Undeterred, Grimmjow got permission to storm Karakura Town with the other Espadas, and hunted Ichigo down.

This time, the Soul Reapers were ready to face the Espadas, and even with just one arm, Grimmjow held his ground against Ichigo. But Ichigo had a surprise in store for him: his brand-new Hollow mask.

7 Winner: None (Ulquiorra Interrupted The Fight)

Ichigo turned the tables on his Espada rivalry, thanks to his Hollow mask's power. Grimmjow sustained serious wounds until Ichigo's mask wore off, and Grimmjow soon beat the exhausted Ichigo into the ground, then prepared to execute him.

Rukia Kuchiki arrived, and froze Grimmjow in ice long enough to help Ichigo get to safety. Finally, Shinji Hirako arrived and fought Grimmjow on even terms until Ulquiorra Schiffer arrived, bringing Grimmjow back home.

6 Grimmjow Vs Ulquiorra Schiffer, In Las Noches

Later, during the Hueco Mundo arc, Ichigo took the fight to his Espada foes within the walls of the enormous palace known as Las Noches. Ichigo fought and lost to Ulquiorra, and then Grimmjow teamed up with Orihime Inoue to get Ichigo back into fighting shape.

Ulquiorra caught up to the party, and he demanded to know what was going on. Grimmjow refused to hand Orihime over, since he needed her to heal Ichigo. Grimmjow was ready to fight his fellow Espada for the sake of his rivalry, showing what a rogue he truly was.

5 Winner: Grimmjow, By Using A Caja Negacion On Ulquiorra

Grimmjow, as the 6th Espada, lacked the sheer firepower to kill Ulquiorra, the 4th Espada. But he gave it his best shot, and he traded blows with Ulquiorra evenly, with neither party drawing their swords. Smoke and dust filled the air, and Ulquiorra watched out for Grimmjow's next attack.

Too late: Grimmjow came from behind, and used a small cube to trap Ulquiorra inside a pocket dimension for a short time (a caja negacion). Ulquiorra would break out sooner or later, but for now, the coast was clear for Grimmjow's final fight with Ichigo.

4 Grimmjow Vs Ichigo Kurosaki, In The Las Noches Desert (Final Fight)

This was what Grimmjow wanted all along: a chance to fight Ichigo at his best, to see who was truly the strongest. No tricks, no mercy, no cheating. Just strength vs strength in a fight to the death, and Ichigo was game.

Las Noches had a vast inner space that contained some buildings and bone-white dunes, the perfect venue for the final battle. On Ichigo's command, Orihime set up a barrier to protect herself and Nelliel tu Odelschwank from the carnage, and the fated duel began at last.

3 Winner: Ichigo Kurosaki, Who Fully Acknowledged His Desire To Fight

Ichigo slowly fell further and further behind in his duel against Grimmjow, even when he donned his Hollow mask. A part of Ichigo had hoped that he could rescue Orihime and retreat without fighting, but it was too late for that.

Once Ichigo was on the verge of defeat, Orihime cried out to him, tearfully urging him to survive, no matter what. Motivated once again, Ichigo dealt a serious blow to Grimmjow, and ended the fight not long after that. Grimmjow collapsed, bitter and resentful. It was at that point when Nnoitora Gilga, the thuggish 5th Espada, took over the fight.

2 Grimmjow Vs Askin Nak Le Vaar, Sternritter "D"

Grimmjow survived to see the Thousand-Year Blood War arc begin, and he dealt the final blow to finish off Quilge Opie, one of the mighty Sternritter. Grimmjow returned later via a garganta to aid Ichigo and Nelliel in their battle against the Quincy.

Grimmjow was no friend of Ichigo's, but if Yhwach destroyed everything, then Grimmjow would never get his chance to fight Ichigo again. Then, Sternritter "D" Askin Nak Le Vaar arrived, and Grimmjow chased him all over the battlefield.

1 Winner: Grimmjow, By Piercing Askin's Chest With His Clawed Fist

Grimmjow suffered a setback when Askin hit him with a poison ball, and poison is central to Askin's fighting style. Hence, he is Sternritter "D," or The Deathdealing. However, Grimmjow had long since established himself as a tenacious and stubborn fighter.

Askin was facing too many powerful foes to face, such as Kisuke Urahara and Ichigo, and Grimmjow dealt the final blow. Askin perished as Grimmjow tore out his heart, though Grimmjow was hardly in fighting shape by the time Askin fell.
