How Netflix's Bonding Sets Up a Season 3 | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2 of Bonding, now streaming on Netflix.

Season 2 of Netflix's Bonding threw a wrench in the relationship between Pete (Brendan Scannell) and Tiff (Zoe Levin) after the revelation came out she aborted his baby after prom night. It explained so much of her abandonment issues and why she felt guilty and kept paying him to work with Pete in the dominatrix game years later.

However, things are looking up for Pete after he's harnessed his pain and is using it to rise as a comedian. Unfortunately, it's coming at the expense of some other things in life, which leaves Season 3 with a lot of things to juggles.

Pete seemingly sold his soul when a comedy agent decided to sign him to do his dominatrix gimmick as Master Carter. It'll involve him using the jokes about impregnating Tiff and her aborting the baby, which admittedly made him feel uncomfortable. Still, Pete just wants to get ahead, which is why he and Tiff are no longer besties.

Season 3 can look at how this is affecting him mentally because, despite their horrid past, they've been there for each other for years. She's his rock and vice versa, which means Pete will be suffering as he keeps making these jokes. Bits of him regret what he sacrificed to move up the ladder, and the fact these jokes impact his personal love life will hurt. He'll face a professional crisis, especially since he's in pain over losing Josh. His ex may even come back into the picture because knowing Pete, he'll have jokes to make about botching Josh's coming out experience, which led to their break-up.

Mistress Mira closed her dungeon down as the rent was getting too high, opting to focus on her own with the financial backing of Josh's dad. However, the other dominatrixes have found a new dungeon and want Tiff to head it up. Mira already passed the mantle to her, so Season 3 can focus on Tiff, aka Mistress May, wanting to do for the girls what Mira did for her.

Tiff is glad to leave the performance life behind as she's cozy and in love with Doug, but it'll be interesting to watch her transform into the administrative role and deal with the stresses of amateurs. She was in their shoes, so it'll be a learning experience, which can either strengthen or break her and Doug. Doug's cool with their life right now, but Tiff could change if the job starts to stress her out. After all, some of the girls need a lot of work to be true performers, and Tiff will have to consider rivals.

Tiff finally called her mom, but the finale ended right there. Season 3 can focus on her mom reacting to her job and its evolution, and since they don't have any sort of relationship, it'll be intriguing hearing their dynamic, especially because Tiff made so many mistakes in her past with guys and how she decided to become a dominatrix.

Tiff seems to want her in her life because she's entertaining the idea of a marriage with Doug, so all of this is going to be playing on their minds. Not to mention, Tiff will have to meet the rest of Doug's family and friends, meaning there will be a ton of people who misunderstand them in the same room. Regardless, Tiff needs someone to fill that gap that Pete left, and her mother could be that person. She's hinted a lot of their problems are her fault, so maybe Tiff has to apologize the same way she tried to with Pete.

Tiff was the one who helped Portia through her miscarriage and bought her the ticket to fly back to England. This could lead to a lot of resentment between her, Pete and Frank, as Frank hated the fact that he got a goodbye letter with no real closure. Pete's the one trying to mop the mess up and be there for Frank, but he's breaking down at his go-go dancing job.

Rolph, Tiff's former manservant, is also on Team Frank, so it's going to be interesting seeing them all at war with each other. That said, Portia could return in Season 3 as she just seemed like she wanted time away from Frank to process her grief. She didn't like his bicurious nature, but he was still figuring out his life, so they're going to have a lot of problems. Ultimately, they may realize being friends is the best bet as Portia has to help Frank become a true adult.

Season 2 of Bonding, starring Zoe Levin, Brendan Scannell, Micah Stock and Theo Stockman, is now streaming on Netflix.
