Street Fighter V: 5 Mods to Enhance Your Game | CBR

Street Fighter V has seen a lot of change. Multiple new characters and gameplay changes have come as years have passed. As the game enters what may now be its final season, some wonder if it still holds as much appeal as it did before. Luckily, there are ways to spice up games when they reach this point, and there's certainly no shortage of mods thanks to the creativity of the internet.

Mods in Street Fighter V come in a few different varieties. Among the various things to change, there are character mods, music mods and even more besides. If ever players feel the game has gotten stale and they've seen all it has to offer, mods are a sure-fire way to breathe new life in and secure a few laughs at the same time.

Starting the mod journey off with a bang, players can find many good costumes for Abigail. The Godzilla mod replaces his 3rd costume and turns him into Toho's iconic monster. While there's no atomic breath included, the mod functions great in-game, give or take a few animations. There are even 2 possible versions of the mod to access: one glowing and one not.

The mod looks and works great, and the model impressively replaces Abigail's. Godzilla's mouth moves, and there are even new physics added for the tail when he moves. This is one of those mods that goes above what a regular mod would do since it actually accounts for things added with the model change, which is amazing to see when in action. The Godzilla mod is great for providing that extra layer of unexpected crossover potential and getting a laugh from friends as Godzilla lumbers towards a fight with Ryu.

Sometimes overdone ideas still work great, and that's definitely the case with the Midnight Bliss Vega mod. Midnight Bliss is a move performed by Demitri Maximoff in Darkstalkers. In said move, any male character would be transformed into a gender-bent version of themselves. That scenario is the case for this mod because it's a female version of Vega, seemingly after Midnight Bliss transformation.

The mod animates rather well and looks great in gameplay too.  Midnight Bliss Vega turns the clawed fighter into a slim woman wearing a leotard. The model isn't the only change, though; even if not perfect, if Vega is set to a Japanese voice, this comes with a voice mod to make the character sound a bit more feminine during gameplay. This is a mod that's great for spicing things up because while it's not anything new, it provides a fun idea and manages to just fit right in the game. Just be aware that the face can sometimes have issues during close-ups.

This is another mod that replaces the whole model. Necalli is meant to be an unrelenting savage being hunting souls, so what better mod to use for him than turning him into the version of Iori that has given in to the power of Orochi and become a beast himself? This mod functions like Abigail's Godzilla mod and replaces the Necalli model. The mod both makes sense and ends up being extremely fun.

This mod also comes with a few physics of its' own. Iori's jacket has a few straps hanging off of it, and they move exactly as one might think. This mod is perhaps the most fitting because the character change works so well that players can visualize the idea before even seeing the mod, which only enhances it. Even better is that since Necalli is in the story mode, players can get a real laugh.

This mod is as simple as it is fun. Though not a model change, this mod is great just being the simple costume change it is. The game lets players turn Kolin's default outfit into Elsa's dress and even changes her hair to be the same as the braid that Elsa sports. This goes great with the music mod turning her theme into "Let it Go," but the music volume will have to be adjusted slightly.

On top of being a good looking costume change, the mod literally goes with the best character suited for it. Kolin's ability to manipulate and utilize ice makes her the perfect candidate for this costume. Aside from a few instances of clipping on the cape, this mod feels natural and like it was meant to be in the game. Not an overly complicated mod for sure, but still great fun.

Ever thought Nintendo and Capcom needed more crossovers?  This mod is for those players. Karin Kazuki will cosplay as Zelda from Breath of the Wild, with her red dress and golden curls replaced by Zelda's blue attire and straightened hair. However, like the Elsa mod, it is mostly just an aesthetic change. This is a great mod for Nintendo fans to inject a bit of magic into Capcom's fighter.

There are many great mods for the game, but these are some of the best available. If players want to spice up a game, there's no better way. With the game likely coming to a close after the upcoming season, there also no better time. These 5 mods show what players are capable of inventing.
