Whether its kind, brave, or smart, anime characters all have their own personalities that breathe life into their respective stories. However, one character trait that seems to stand out in anime is that of  impulsiveness.

Impulsive characters tend to act on instinct and without thinking things through. It might be that the character didn't want to waste time thinking things through, it could also be that the character is just straight-up dumb. Though it's not necessarily a bad thing to act on impulse, it's not always good either and sometimes such actions end up messing up an otherwise good strategy.

10 Arthur's Fantasies Tend To Make Him Overdo His Role In A Fight (Fire Force)

Arthur always fantasizes about being a heroic Knight King sworn to protect his kingdom with his mighty sword, Excalibur. These fantasies are usually used to get the best performance out of him in difficult situations. All one has to do is convince him that what he's doing will protect his kingdom.

That said, Arthur tends to do too much in his roles at times. He once stated that he, the Knight King, would act as the rear guard while his troops retreated and proceeded to charge far away from them – too far to be their "rear guard."

9 Captain Obi Of Special Fire Force Company 8 Trusts His Muscles A Bit Too Much (Fire Force)

Captain Akitaru Obi of Company 8 trains his muscles every single day and as a result, has gained incredible stamina and strength which is way above that of an average human. Thanks to his gear, he's able to take direct attacks and still be able to counter as well. However, it seems he only trusts in his muscles and he does this a tad too much.

Most times, he really doesn't think things through to the end before charging in. He does show strokes of brilliance with the way he uses his gear in a fight, but it's only a matter of time before he's met with a force his muscles cannot withstand.

8 Shinmon Benimaru Might be A Terrific Fighter But He Can Be Impulsive At Times (Fire Force)

When there was confusion at Asakusa concerning who was responsible for turning people infernal, Benimaru decided that he would believe only what he heard and refused to listen to an explanation from the Captain of Company 8.

This resulted in a meaningless scuffle between the two Captains until Lieutenant Konro stepped in to plead on Company 8's behalf. He also showed his impulsive side when he barged in through the front door of the Holy Sol Temple seeking answers, completely oblivious to the fact that the Temple's ties with Haijima industries could lead to the lack of drugs for Konro.

7 Yami Sukehiro At Times Prefers To Act First And Think Later (Black Clover)

Though Yami has a very good battle sense, he takes everything else nonchalantly. He's able to stay steps ahead of an opponent in a fight, but he tends to live a rather "go with the flow" life. When asked what he was planning to do, he simply stated that he makes stuff up as he goes along. Yami prefers to do most of his thinking on the toilet but besides that, he's as clueless as they come.

6 Gajeel May Be Smart But Natsu May Have Rubbed Off On Him (Fairy Tail)

Gajeel Redfox the Iron Dragon Slayer, is a strong fighter who has claimed victory in a host of battles but that doesn't mean he's devoid of flaws. He can be reckless at times. On some occasions, he was willing to follow Natsu to pick a fight without having a solid strategy in place. While Gajeel often mocks Natsu for being so dumb, he has had his own fair share of oblivious actions. He's also quite fond of picking fights with Natsu at the worst possible moments – usually in the heat of battle.

5 Jack The Ripper Doesn't Care What's Going On As Long As He Gets To Cut Something (Black Clover)

Jack, the Captain of The Green Praying Mantis Magic Knight Squad derives joy in chopping stuff to bits. He usually does this with little concern for the environment and his allies and he uses his magic with reckless abandon. Jack's a strong fighter, but his urge to cut his opponents to bits often gets the better of him and he ends up in difficult situations.

4 Gildarts' Clumsiness Caused An Entire City To Be Modified

Gildarts Clive of Fairy Tail wields crush magic and if the wielder is absent minded, they'll destroy everything they touch. Gildarts was quite notorious of this and as a result, the entire city of magnolia had to be modified to create a straight path from the city's entrance to the Fairy Tail Guild hall.

This ensured that Gildarts stayed away from people's homes and businesses. They even called it "The Magnolia Gildarts shift." Gildarts is often absent minded and we know all too well what happens whenever he overdoes things.

3 Inosuke Hashibira Hates Thinking (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba)

More than once, Inosuke jumps into battle with absolutely no plan at all. He keeps fighting even when he's injured, not because he's brave – though he is – but because he doesn't even realize that he's unfit to fight. Inosuke said himself that using his head is not like him at all, so it no longer comes as a surprise whenever he dives headfirst into danger. He's still incapable of pronouncing Tanjiro Kamado.

2 Asta Has Quite The Reputation Of Being A Blockhead (Black Clover)

Black Clover's Asta is known to repeatedly dive headfirst into danger without first thinking about the consequences of his actions. More often that not, he emerges from trouble with more than a few bruises as a result. Asta has to answer a lot of questions like of "What were you thinking?" right after he makes trouble for himself and his Black Bulls squad mates.

1 Natsu Prides Himself On Acting First And Thinking Later (Fairy Tail)

If a villain should mess with the Fairy Tail Guild, Natsu will almost always rush out for revenge even when he doesn't know the culprit or where to find them. For viewers, it was always hilarious to watch Natsu run out in a rage only to end up looking like a complete moron. Natsu might be impulsive, but he is more than capable to adapt and overcome when the situation calls for it. Though it'd be so much nicer if Natsu could think with his head instead of his fists.
