Star Wars: 10 Ways Being Sith Wouldn't Be So Bad With Some Self Control

The powers that Jedi and Sith have are unparalleled. Not just in their own galaxy far, far away from the Milky Way, but in any universe. There are few beings with the abilities that the Jedi and Sith claim to possess.

Not only that, but within the Star Wars universe, the Sith have been shown to have even more powers that audiences are only given glimpses of now and then. With so many wildly strong abilities, it is no small wonder that most Sith go completely mad with power. However, if these Sith were able to get a grip, there are many clues that prove being Sith wouldn’t be so bad with some self control.

10 Seeing Into The Future When Things Aren’t Completely Dire

Sith are capable of having Force Visions. As viewers saw in the prequels, for example, people like Anakin Skywalker could see into the future, though they were unsure whether or not the visions they had were of a future that was set in stone or not. Many Force users have visions that they are unable to control, leading them to make brash, emotional decisions on impulse after having one of these visions.

However, with some patience, self control, and rational thinking, a Sith would be able to use these visions to inform their actions. Force Visions could be utilized like any other ability to help out a calm Sith in control of themselves.

9 Sith Technically Have The Ability To Fly

The Force gives users many manipulation abilities that are essentially the equivalent of telekinesis. Force users, Jedi and Sith included, have the ability to manipulate physical objects through space as needed. The more powerful they become, the stronger this ability grows, until some Sith are even capable of manipulating gravity and their own bodies in order to lift themselves into the air.

With proper self control and training of oneself, a Sith would be able to use this Force Flight ability to levitate anywhere they wanted, fly from place to place, and send themselves from one location to another impossibly quickly.

8 The Force Grip Doesn't Only Have To Be Used To Choke People

One of Darth Vader’s signature moves in the original trilogy is his Force Choke. In fact, so many people referred to this move as the Force Choke that it became widely known as this, but Star Wars fans know better.

This ability that Darth Vader showcases is actually the Force Grip, and many Sith are able to use it. With enough self control, a Sith would be able to grab and move anyone and anything from a distance. This can be threatening enough on its own without needing to choke someone out using the power.

7 The Ability To Control Force Lightning Would Be Unparalleled

Another ability that countless Sith have showcased over the years in the Star Wars universe is the ability to conjure lightning through the Force, expel it from one’s body, and blast it at another person. Of course, people have seen Emperor Palpatine use this ability a number of times, typically with catastrophic results.

If a Sith who had far more self control than Emperor Palpatine employed Force lightning, they’d be able to utilize it in a number of ways. However, Sith users would be better off having enough self control not to attempt a Force Storm. Part of self control is knowing when to stop, not just when to push yourself.

6 The Force Can Be Used To Heal As Well As Hurt

The Force is not exclusively used to hurt, not even by the Sith. Anyone can get hurt, even a Sith, and using the Force to heal would be incredibly handy in those instances of injury.

While a Sith who just wants to be bad and use the Force to hurt people likely would never have the self control to learn a skill like Force Healing, a Sith with self control could. Using Force Healing can help a Force user heal their injuries or the injuries of others, though it requires an incredibly strong connection to the Force to do so.

5 The Power To Control Others’ Minds Better Than Even A Jedi Could

When audiences were first introduced to Obi-Wan Kenobi, he did all sorts of different tricks with the Force, including what came to be known as the Jedi Mind Trick. Any Force user can manipulate the Force in order to manipulate other people’s minds, but Jedi and Sith go about it in slightly different ways.

While the Jedi have their Mind Trick, the Sith have Mind Control. This is an even more powerful ability than the Mind Trick, and can influence people’s thoughts and actions for an extended amount of time. A Sith with enough self control could control many beings’ minds using Mind Control.

4 The Ability To Manipulate The World Around Oneself (& Destroy It If Necessary)

Force users can do more than simply manipulate objects through space or fix things that have been slightly broken. Sith can even do something that is most frequently referred to as Force Combustion. Essentially, Sith can not only use their Force abilities to move objects, but they can use them to destroy objects, as well.

Using this method of Force Combustion, an object essentially explodes with flame from the inside out, eventually being completely eaten up by the fire. This power can quickly go wrong and get out of control quickly, and so a degree of self control is necessary to even successfully wield Force Combustion in the first place.

3 Sith Can Plant Powerful Illusions In The Minds Of Others

The Force can do many things, including making people see things that aren’t really there. Many Force users have had visions in the past, but they are also capable of planting illusions, as well. The Jedi don’t get too involved in moves like Force Illusions, as these abilities are too often entangled in the Dark Side and the bad things the Force can be used to do, but the Sith have no such qualms about this move.

Forcing people to see whatever a Sith user wants doing Sith Illusion basically puts somebody at the complete whim of the Sith user; with the proper amount of self control, a Sith user could use this to take over an entire planet.

2 Controlling One’s Anger Can Make Them A Functional, Powerful Sith

Anakin Skywalker learned over the years that anger alone is not enough to help someone bring balance to the Force. When he was dying, he realized that his rage was not so much about the act of being angry as it was about the hurt that caused that anger. The skill Force Rage is much the same.

A Force user can use Force Rage only when they are truly and fully capable of controlling their anger and rage. Without self control, all a Sith user would have is generic rage. With self control, however, they are capable of even more— capable of something like Force Rage.

1 Being Sith Means Technically Getting A Chance To Live Forever

Above all else, technically, if a Sith user properly gains control over themselves and the Force, they could functionally live forever. Sith are able to do something called Transfering Essence— they can remove their literal essence from their bodies and use the Force to transplant it somewhere else, presumably in another body.

As a result, Sith are able to simply remove themselves from a dying body and plant themselves in a new one whenever they want. Functionally, a Sith could live forever if they wanted to and also had the self control to manage to do so.
