In the Marvel Universe, Hulk is generally considered to be the strongest character around. And if that's not enough, he just keeps getting stronger the more mad he gets. If there's one thing that sets Hulk apart from most other heroes and villains outside of his stylish green hue, it's his seemingly infinite ability to get angrier and angrier.
But despite all of that, there are still characters in the Marvel Universe that the Hulk has never beaten. In some cases, it's because he's never actually faced them in one-on-one combat. But in other cases, they are just too powerful, even for him.
10 Thanos The Mad Titan Is Too Much For Hulk
When it comes to taking on everyone and anyone, there's no one quite like Thanos. He has no problem mixing it up with anyone who gets in his path, and very few heroes in the Marvel Universe can claim victories in hand-to-hand combat over him.
Hulk is not one of those heroes. Every time he has stepped up to the Mad Titan, Hulk has gotten his butt handed to him. But in his defense, Thanos usually has the Infinity Gauntlet, a Cosmic Cube, or some sort of powerful object at his disposal when they fight.
9 Pitting Anyone Against Galactus Just Isn't Fair
If a hero or villain is going to face off against Galactus, they had better have at least the Ultimate Nullifier at their disposal. This towering, godlike being survived the destruction of the previous universe and became a primordial force in the current one.
Oddly enough, Hulk might actually be able to hit Galactus hard enough that he notices that he's been hit. But that's about as far as the fight goes. Galactus would see him as nothing more than a little green annoyance to be flicked away like a gnat.
8 Bruce Banner Beat The Sentry, But The Hulk Did Not
The history of Sentry in the Marvel Universe is incredibly complicated to say the least. He has been around for a long time, but everyone's memories of him were erased. He also turned out to be his own villain, which made things even more insane.
To date, the Hulk has never actually beaten Sentry in a proper one on one match. But Bruce Banner has. Hulk and Sentry ended up drained after a brutal fight, leaving their human alter egos to duke it out. Bruce Banner ended up taking down Sentry after he turned back into Robert.
7 Doctor Doom Can Outthink Any Opponent
Hulk has gone through a lot of changes over the years, particularly when it comes to his intellect. Sometimes he's smart and other times his mind is barely functional. But was doesn't change is his overwhelming power.
Doctor Doom, on the other hand, is always a devious, Machiavellian genius with the power to back it up. Hulk doesn't really have a firm victory over Doom, which is due in part to the fact that the two of them haven't faced off particularly often.
6 Hawkeye Killed The Hulk
Of all the people who have defeated the Hulk, Hawkeye is probably the least likely. Technically, he shot Bruce Banner in the head with an arrow just before he changed into the Hulk but a win is a win is a win.
Hawkeye and Hulk have never had a fight one-on-one, which is probably for the best. If they did fight, all that would be left of Hawkeye would be a bloody smear across the ground. Still, it's crazy to think that Hawkeye batting a thousand against someone with that kind of power.
5 Even Hulk Should Be Wary Of Fighting Zeus
The Marvel Universe has a lot of pantheons to work with. Out of all of them, the most prominent by far are the Asgardians, thanks primarily to Thor and Loki. But the gods of Mount Olympus also play a role, particularly Hercules who has often been an member of the Avengers.
At one point, Hulk found himself facing off against Zeus. More powerful beings than Hulk have tried to defeat Zeus and failed miserably. Realistically, Hulk never stood a chance against someone with his incredible abilities.
4 No One Can Stop The Juggernaut
Out of all the X-Men's enemies, and sometimes friends, Juggernaut is one of the most difficult to deal with. Thanks to his incredible strength and invulnerability, once the Juggernaut gets started, he can't be stopped. Delayed, maybe. Sometimes even postponed. But rarely stopped.
The mystical basis of Juggernaut's phenomenal abilities give him an edge over someone like the Hulk. Much like Doctor Doom, Hulk and Juggernaut haven't faced off too many times. That being said, Juggernaut has come out on top of their few fights.
3 Professor X Trumps Hulk In One Key Area
Sending Hulk to fight Professor X would be an incredibly lopsided battle to say the least. Hulk is a literal monster who has been known to punch planets from time to time. Professor is an older gentlemen who has been confined to a floating wheelchair in the past.
But while Hulk is physically powerful, Professor X is mentally powerful. His telepathic abilities are virtually unmatched by anyone else in the Marvel Universe. In this case, Professor X could potentially take Hulk down with a thought.
2 Vulcan's Power Should Not Be Underestimated
Every time X-Men fans turn around, there seems to be an other Summers brother with a different set of mutant abilities. That's why Mister Sinister has spent so much time trying to capture them and study them for "science."
Vulcan is an Omega-level mutant with the ability to psionically manipulate energy both natural and exotic in a wide range of ways. He has a lot of options when it comes to taking Hulk down, many of which the Green Goliath wouldn't be prepared for.
1 No One Is Ready For The Scarlet Witch
Over the years, Scarlet Witch has grown increasingly powerful. And while she doesn't always have the best control over those abilities, that doesn't change the fact that she could potentially overwhelm almost any adversary.
When the Scarlet Witch is at the absolute peak of her powers, it's hard to imagine that even the Hulk has what it takes to bring her down. She's not the type of person to let him get close enough to physically attack her in the first place.
