10 Pokémon That Are A Lot More Powerful In The Games Than The Anime

The Pokémon series is one that has grown so much in terms of popularity that its reputation has infiltrated just about every medium there is. From video games and anime to toys and manga, it seems that the Pokémon craze never stopped since the series' big beginnings on the classic Nintendo handheld console, the Gameboy.

Of course, these different versions of the series spanning different mediums have a lot of differences, including the strengths of the Pokémon. In fact, it's clear that there are certain Pokémon that are much stronger in the video games of the series when compared to the anime adaptation.

10 Miltank Lives In The Nightmares Of Many

When fans of the Pokémon games talk about the most annoying monsters in the series, one of the most brought up of the bunch is Miltank. More specifically, Whitney's infamous Miltank.

In the game, Whitney's Miltank took down many challengers. Of course it was a gym leader's Pokémon in the anime but its infamy was nowhere near as close.

9 Mimikyu Is A Fearsome Foe

In the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime, Mimikyu appears as a fearsome new Pokémon that allies itself with Team Rocket. Not to mention, despite its size it packs quite the punch.

However, this version of the monster can't lay a finger on the power of the video game version. It takes a free attack due to its disguise ability and is a metagame monster for competitive matches.

8 Snorlax Can Steamroll An Entire Team With The Right Setup

In the Pokémon anime, Snorlax is played mostly for jokes. It's very rare that Snorlax even goes into battle, instead only coming out to be funny due to its constant napping.

In the video games, this monster is much more powerful due to its strength, making it able to defeat a whole team, as a powerful wall with the right setup to get things started.

7 Cinderace Is A Leading Mon For Many Players

Cinderace may seem like the standard fire starter in the series, but for the actual Pokémon videogames this flaming rabbit is a lot more than that, especially for competitive players.

Cinderace is categorized by many players and fans of the games as a tier-one Pokémon, meaning it is one of the strongest as of now. This is thanks to its hidden abilities and wide movepool.

6 Ditto Is More Useful Than It Is In The Anime

Ditto is another Pokémon that is mainly played for jokes due to its hilarious appearances when it transforms into other beings and Pokémon.

In the games, it is quite the terror when approached in battle. This Pokémon is very versatile and is seen as one of the best teammates in the game due to its copy ability being able to turn the tide.

5 Lapras Is Good For More Than Just Travel

Many fans of Pokémon see Lapras and simply think of a good monster to have around in order to travel across the seas. This is also somewhat the case in the anime of the series.

Lapras is just as great a Pokémon in battle as it is when acting as a living boat. It has great super effective moves and has tons of offensive boosts. It's one of the best all-rounders there is.

4 Togekiss Packs More Of A Punch Than One Would Believe

Togekiss is an absolutely adorable Pokémon and, funny enough, comes from one of the main Pokémon of the anime, as it is Togepi's final evolution.

This final evolution of this classic Pokémon is another all-rounder in the games, being able to fulfill just about any job that a trainer looking to build a strong team needs.

3 Incineroar Is Strong In The Anime, But Stronger In The Games

Yet another starter Pokémon that no one would expect to change things up is Incineroar, the final form of the dark/fire dual type, Litten. However, not everyone agrees that this Pokémon is as strong as others.

This Pokémon is many times seen on competitive teams and usually comes equipped with strong moves like Fake Out and stocked with the ability Intimidate.

2 Garchomp Is Powerful In Both Versions

Unlike Incineroar, no one disagrees when it comes to the mad strength of the Pokémon Garchomp. This Pokémon carries with it many type resistances and has great stats.

Its abilities make it one of the most dangerous and therefore popular Pokémon when it comes to competitive battling. This is mirrored in the anime but not to the extent of the games.

1 Alolan Exeggutor Isn't Just A Joke

Alolan Exeggutor is a Pokémon that was looked at as a joke almost instantly due to its goofy appearance, not to mention its obviously slow speed due to its huge size.

However, with the right setup and usage of the move Trick Room, it can become a powerful adversary to anyone that dares oppose it. It's still greatly weak to ice though.
