USA Network and Syfy's Chucky TV series is bringing back another Child's Play film franchise vet.
Fiona Dourif will reprise her role of Nica Pierce on the upcoming TV series after previously appearing in Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017). She will serve as "Chucky's chief antagonist" on the horror series, according to the press release.
Fiona Dourif joins her father Brad Dourif, who will voice the murderous doll on the show after providing the vocals for Chucky in all the Child's Play films except 2019's Child's Play. (Star Wars' Mark Hamill voiced Chucky in that film.) Jennifer Tilly, who voices Tiffany Valentine, the bride of Chucky, in the movies, is also set to return.
The Child's Play franchise follows a notorious serial killer who escapes death by transferring his spirit into children's dolls. It began with 1988's Child's Play and has since spawned six sequels and one remake. An eighth film is being planned by franchise creator Don Mancini, who hinted that it could be a crossover with the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
Chucky was supposed to begin filming this past fall in Toronto. However, due to COVID-19 safety regulations, the shoot was pushed to early 2021. However, this is not expected to delay the premiere of the series, which is still on track for sometime in 2021.
Fiona Dourif's other film and TV credits include Tenet, The Stand, Helstrom, Utopia, The Blacklist, The Purge TV series, True Blood and Deadwood.
The synopsis for the series can be found below:
In the new CHUCKY television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town's hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky's past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
Created and directed by Don Mancini, Chucky stars Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Björgvin Arnarson and Devon Sawa. The series premieres on Syfy and USA Network in 2021.
