Disneyland Developing New Attractions, Shops and Restaurants

Disney plans on upgrading and renovating Disneyland with new attractions, shops and restaurants.

According to Deadline, the "Disneyland Forward" plan applies to underdeveloped areas within the park's existing 490 acres, specifically near two Disney hotels west of the theme parks and in an Eastern parking lot. Specific details regarding the attractions and the costs of the project were not disclosed. Disney is expected to bring plans to the Anaheim City Council, which is reportedly on board with the idea, before 2023. No public funds will be used for the work and a third park is not in the cards for the Happiest Place on Earth.

The House of Mouse said they are considering areas from its other parks as possible additions to Disneyland. These include attractions based on Tangled, Peter Pan and Frozen, which will all open next year in Tokyo DisneySea in Japan. Disneyland Shanghai's upcoming Zootopia area and Florida's Walt Disney World's Toy Story Land and Tron ride are also possible additions.

"I welcome fresh thinking about how the Disneyland Resort evolves and how we best maximize this resource for our city," Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu said in a statement.

Disneyland has been closed since March 2020 but plans to reopen on April 30 at limited capacity. The reaping will allow Disney to bring back over 10,000 employees, who the company calls cast members.
