Plenty of anime experience sequel series and extensions, but Dragon Ball Super has done a very effective job at continuing on the story of Goku and company from what the Dragon Ball franchise established. Dragon Ball Super is a strong mix of nostalgia and new ideas that culminate in some of the franchise’s most exciting storylines.
Dragon Ball Super’s final anime arc is the Tournament of Power, a multiversal competition with dire consequences. This tournament assembles the best warriors from across the many universes, and Kale is an important player on Universe 6’s team. Kale and Universe 6 ultimately face defeat, but there are certain measures that could have been taken to ensure Kale’s victory.
10 Intimidate Other Universes With Her Legendary Super Saiyan Form
One of the most distinct features about Kale is that she’s not just a Saiyan, but she’s also Universe 6’s Legendary Super Saiyan, a special individual who only appears once every 1,000 years. Legendary Super Saiyans are largely presumed to be apocryphal, and it’s a surprise to many when Kale proves that they do exist. Kale could have leaned into the mystique around this form even more and acted like some God of Destruction-level creature. Kale comes across as a loose cannon and the right treatment of this transformation could broker submission from other fighters.
9 An Early Elimination Of Jiren Would've Kept Kale Going In Her Legendary Super Saiyan Form
Everyone in the Tournament of Power is a competent fighter, but Universe 11’s Jiren is an early threat who’s singled out by both Universe 6 and Goku. Kale in her Legendary Super Saiyan form causes chaotic energy to rain down and randomly hurt everyone in the tournament. This even leads to Methiop’s elimination. It’s ultimately Jiren who stops Kale’s reckless power, but if he were to be previously eliminated or preoccupied earlier by Goku, then Kale’s power might have continued to grow and take out more of the arena.
8 Her Energy Opens Up A Separate Dimension That Consumes Fighters
Dragon Ball Super’s characters are so strong that their energy can do dangerous things beyond the destruction of others. Legendary Super Saiyan Kale seems like she may have a limitless reservoir of power, and she goes into a rage when she feels like her strength still isn’t enough to protect Caulifla from Universe 11’s assault.
Kale unleashes an energy that breaks through to a separate dimension, something so severe that it even shocks Android 17. Kale could have intensified or refined this ability to do some serious damage.
7 Leveraging Her Defeat Over Universe 3’s Super Fusion, Anilaza
The Tournament of Power is an exciting stretch of episodes for Dragon Ball Super because of all of the new fighters that it introduces along with the contrasting strategies that these different universes implement. Fusion is allowed in the Tournament of Power, but it comes at a major risk. Universe 3 pools most of its team together to form the fused warrior, Anilaza, which Kale effortlessly defeats in a single hit. Everyone is impressed over this victory, and it’s something that Kale could have used to force other universes to surrender out of fear.
6 Properly Utilize Her Colossal Strength
There’s still a lot about the Legendary Super Saiyan form that remains a mystery, largely because there’s a much smaller portion of people with access to this power. Legendary Super Saiyan Kale has impressive speed and an array of energy attacks, but her strength also increases in an unbelievable way. Out of frustration, Universe 6’s Kale lifts the 1000-tonne Auta Magetta with one arm, whereas Super Saiyan Vegeta can’t even make Magetta move. Kale could use this extreme physical strength to manipulate the arena or take advantage of the surroundings rather than directly fight her opponents.
5 Turn Super Saiyan 3 Over Caulifla's Elimination
When Dragon Ball Super initially introduces Kale and the rest of Universe 6’s Saiyans, they’re all in a place where they’re completely oblivious to the concept of Super Saiyans. Very quickly these Saiyans master the first two stages, and it’s shown that the female Saiyans even get close to unlocking the strength of Super Saiyan 3.
It would have made for a thrilling turn of events if Caulifla’s elimination and Kale’s inability to save her is what triggers her to become a Super Saiyan 3 and use a combination of that power with her Legendary form to win the tournament.
4 Use Her Saiyan Lineage To Enrage Frieza
The Tournament of Power brings forward dozens of new threats, but it also justifies the return of familiar faces, like Frieza. There’s deep history and raw feelings between Frieza and the Saiyan people. A lot of this has to do with Frieza’s obsession over pivotal Saiyan figures like the Legendary Super Saiyan. The existence of new Saiyans in Universe 6 is a shock for Frieza, but Kale could have embraced this tension to throw Frieza off his game. He’s a major player for Universe 7, and the outcome of the tournament would be very different with an early Frieza elimination.
3 Make Better Use Out Of Fusion
There are a few rules and restrictions in the Tournament of Power, but something as drastic as fusion isn’t prohibited. Kale is a character that will often turn to fusion with Caulifla in order to gain a significant power boost as Kefla. A more strategic use of fusion could have helped Kale become the Tournament of Power’s big winner. Kale could have even experimented with a Cabba fusion or even an attempt at a three-way fusion between Universe 6’s Saiyans. There are ways that her familiarity with the technique could have helped her win.
2 Used Caulifla's Love For Her As A Defense Mechanism
The Dragon Ball franchise is full of powerful tyrants with thoroughly selfish agendas, but there are teams that can often get better results. Kale shares a very close connection with Caulifla and the two are deeply invested in each other’s safety. Kale and Caulifla have a lot to focus on during the tournament, but Kale could have used her bond with Caulifla as a means to survive longer. Caulifla is more than willing to throw herself into harm’s way for Kale and a more ruthless version of the character could abuse that relationship for her own gain.
1 She Could Have Tapped Into Ultra Instinct
One of the Tournament of Power’s biggest surprises is that Goku inadvertently stumbles upon the powerful transformation, Ultra Instinct. This ability becomes critical during Goku’s fight against Jiren, but it’s not enough for Goku to win the tournament. It’s explained that Ultra Instinct strikes in mysterious ways, and it’s about a certain reliance on the body. It’s hard for Goku to tap into this lucid mentality, but it’s something that seems natural for Kale. Her Legendary Super Saiyan form involves some of the same principles, and if Kale attempted to go this route, it could have led to her success.
