Former DC Executive Editor Mark Doyle Joins IDW | CBR

WarnerMedia's layoffs in 2020 left DC feeling the pinch. But after the success of Netflix's adaptation of its Locke & Key series, IDW Publishing announced it has recruited former DC Comics executive editor Mark Doyle.

IDW announced Doyle's addition on Mar. 10.  As per the publisher's announcement, Doyle will be a key player in turning its content into television series. The former DC editor has signed on as IDW’s Editorial Director of Originals. He will focus on acquiring and developing original content from comic books and graphic novels. Doyle will help out by steering the company's strategic branding and the editorial strategy of IDW's properties.

After the announcement, Doyle expressed his excitement over joining IDW. "I've been making comics for more than 14 years and have always been an avid IDW fan," Doyle stated about his new position. "My passion has always been working with talent and telling original stories, so I’m excited to be a part of this growing team. I know we’re going to make great things together."

Doyle served as DC Comics’ Executive Editor for 14 years before losing his position as part of WarnerMedia's restructuring.  Before joining either DC or IDW, he worked as a Development Assistant at ABC News. Along with recruiting Doyle, former Funny or Die senior director Jonny Gutman and former ABGO Films creative executive Cassie Conway were named Vice President of Series and IDW Entertainment's Director of Development, respectively.
