Time is running out for Iron Man and his allies to stop Korvac, who has recently achieved cosmic, godlike power. Korvac has left Hellcat traumatized and Tony Stark with a broken neck, the only thing keeping the latter of the two alive being his armor. Tony has really been through the wringer lately, to the point that he's even questioned whether or not his nemesis might just be right about remaking the world. As bad as things are, the situation is about to take a turn for the weird when Tony Stark finds himself suddenly transported to a world that is seemingly inhabited by superpowered Canadians.
Even though he is on the verge of death, Tony is determined to head back into the fight for himself. After convincing War Machine to help upgrade his armor, and doing the same for his longtime friend in return, Tony goes to check up on Hellcat. She gives him some disturbing news, informing him that Korvac showed her his vision of utopia while in her mind. As they discuss the mental link between Korvac and Hellcat, Tony asks her if she could turn the tables and reach out to him instead. Things go better than Hellcat had expected when she and Tony are whisked away to confront Korvac within the villain's mindscape. Korvac initially believes the heroes have come for a fight, and is caught off guard when he realizes Tony's genuine preference for talking things out. Though the conversation doesn't bring them to any sort of agreement, it does showcase exactly what Iron Man is trying to stop, if only he were around to do so.
Without warning, Tony is engulfed in a beam of light and disappears into it, much to the shock of both Korvac and Hellcat. While the former assumes that his enemy has retreated, Hellcat is certain that Korvac made this happen, and neither of them could be more wrong. The place that Tony ends up is far removed from anywhere he recognizes. The landscape isn't barren, but it certainly seems desolate without any sort of manmade structures or signs of sentient life in any direction.
Tony wonders what alien world he has ended up on, but his suit isn't able to give him any clue as to what his current location might be. He also questions whether or not he might be dead, again, only to end up in an afterlife he doesn't recognize. Luckily, Tony is not alone in this place. Even better, the accent he hears is recognizable, though that doesn't necessarily make things any less confusing.
The group that has discovered Tony introduce themselves as the Colony Patrol, just before labeling Tony a "non-authorized." This ragtag group of intimidating figures range from the furry and ferocious to cyborgs and aliens, none of them recognizable to the Armored Avenger. Whatever world or dimension Tony has ended up in is clearly inhabited, but whether the colony these beings are guarding is a prison or not remains a mystery. From the looks of things, the Colony Patrol have no intention of talking things out with their assumed invader, even if that stands in stark contrast to what Iron Man might expect.
The armor clad member of the Colony Patrol who speaks directly to Tony does so with a thick Canadian accent, which leaves the hero nearly speechless. Without much to go on, it's hard to make any real guesses as to just what it is that Iron Man has fallen into, but it is probably safe to assume that whoever he's just encountered are at least familiar with his home world. And with any luck, it will still be there whenever he gets himself free from this new threat on a mysterious world.
