Naruto: The Worst Trait Of Every Hokage | CBR

Konoha has had a long list of incredibly powerful Hokage. The chosen leaders have shown that they were more exceptional than their peers. The Hokage have fearlessly lead their villages, proving themselves to be worthy leaders. They have been innovators, reshaping their world for the better.

Despite their many positive traits, none of them have been perfect. Every Hokage has shown their goodness, and each one has shown that they are merely human. All seven Hokages have had things that held them back from being better leaders. Some of their mistakes ended up having repercussions that carried on through the generations.

7 First Hokage: Hashirama Senju Had A Gambling Problem

Hashirama Senju was so powerful that people referred to him as being god-like. He was known for being loud, headstrong, and idealistic. His idealism helped him strive to establish the Leaf Village. While his idealism was his best trait, it was also simultaneously his worst trait.

He seemed to strive for his ideal without paying heed to any sense of realism, not considering the negative impact of his ambitions. He was also incredibly competitive, which manifested into a bit of a problem with gambling.

6 Second Hokage: Tobirama Senju Couldn't Get Over His Hatred

Tobirama was an incredibly serious person. He was always direct and to the point, never worrying about who he might offend with the truth. He rarely took things personally and reacted in a very level-headed manner. He drew inspiration from Hashirama and Madara's leadership styles.

Despite trying to bring the Senju and Uchiha Clans closer together, he only managed to alienate the Uchiha Clan. On a personal level, he could never completely forgive the Uchiha. His actions eventually led to the Uchiha massacre.

5 Third Hokage: Hiruzen Sarutobi Turned A Blind Eye To The Dangerous Behavior Of Those Close To Him

Hiruzen was known for his kindness. He was a bit of a pacifist and wanted the village he loved to live in peace. He rose to the status of hokage and was believed to be the strongest shinobi Konoha had ever produced.

Unfortunately, Hiruzen's kindness allowed him to overlook threats posed by people he loved. His favorite student, Orchimaru, was dangerous, but Hiruzen ignored him. His childhood friend, Danzo, was allowed to amass way too much power. Hiruzen's softness towards his loved ones caused a lot of problems for the village— and resulted in his death.

4 Fourth Hokage: Minato Namikaze Viewed His Son As A Weapon

Minato was a kind and humble man. He was an excellent strategist, known for his quick thinking. He had a fearsome reputation on the battlefield, partially because of his incredible speed.

Minato was a loving man. He cared greatly for his wife, son, and village. He purposefully made his son's life harder so that the village would still have Kurama's power. He sacrificed his own life, turning his son into an outcast as a jinchuriki. Making his only son a host to the Nine-Tails' power was a good strategical move, but he ended up making Naruto's life harder.

3 Fifth Hokage: Tsunade Senju Was Known For Her Overindulgence

Tsunade took after her grandfather, Hashirama Senju. She was idealistic much like he was; however, loss hardened her heart. She gave up on dreaming and fell into some darker habits. Her vanity drove her to alter her appearance, taking on the face of a much younger woman.

She also seemed to inherit her grandfather's love of gambling. Another vice she had was her love of drinking. She had a tendency to overindulge when it came to things like gambling and drinking.

2 Sixth Hokage: Kakashi Hotake Is Apathetic & Carelessly Reads Erotica In Public

From childhood, Kakashi showed he was brilliant but also disinterested in those around him. His blunt speech and perception made him seem arrogant. After the loss of his father, he seemed to grow more reserved and apathetic.

Despite never showing much interest in actual women, he becomes deeply interested in Jiraiya's book series. He often reads the books in public, seemingly unbothered by how that may be received by others. The books would be considered to fall into the genre of erotica, hardly something a public figure should be reading in public.

1 Seventh Hokage: Naruto Uzumaki Embraces Unintelligence & Naivety

Naruto failed the graduation exam three times before he managed to succeed. He isn't book smart but seems to excel in strategy when on the battlefield. He is overly trusting and doesn't always seem to notice the danger of a situation.

While he is able to overcome some of his childishness as an adult, he still is prone to his negative attributes. He takes his job very seriously, to the point that he starts ignoring his family. He doesn't seem to understand his son's pain, despite having grown up without a father himself. He naively believes his son should automatically understand why he's not around.
