Marvel Comics will launch its Women of Marvel special in April, and the publisher released three new covers on International Women's Day, which occurred on March 8.
The first cover, by Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn) features She-Hulk and Tigra in a pet store with Misty Knight and Colleen Wing. Another cover by Peach Momoko (Demon Days: X-Men) showcases the Scarlet Witch casting a spell. And finally, Maria Wolf draws the X-Men's Magik charging into battle against a horde of demons.
Women of Marvel #1 will feature a roster of female creators tackling Marvel's female heroes, including writing from Louise Simonson (X-Factor) and Mariko Tamaki (Detective Comics), and art from creators including Momoko and Nina Vakueva (The Mighty Valkyries). The special will also feature the Marvel Comics debut of Zoraida Córdova (Brooklyn Brujas) and Swedish artist Maria Fröhlich, who will write and illustrate a story centered around the Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora.
Marvel previously unveiled a series of variant covers to celebrate Women's History Month, illustrated by Jen Bartel. Bartel's covers place the various female characters of the Marvel Universe into period-appropriate fashion, including a glittering diamond dress for Emma Frost and an '80s suit for She-Hulk.
Women of Marvel #1 goes on sale on April 21 from Marvel.
