Prior to this ad spot for FX on Hulu, it was previously reported that the Y: The Last Man television adaptation will steer its plot close to its comic origins.

Y: The Last Man will be a direct adaptation of the comic series from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra that ran from 2002 to 2008. It takes place in a world where a cataclysmic event has killed every male mammal on the planet except for a human (Yorick Brown) and his faithful companion capuchin monkey (Ampersand). As Yorick undergoes a dangerous odyssey to find out why he's the lone survivor, the remaining women of Earth try to figure out how to rebuild society following the death of half its population.

FX also released a photo from the series around that time.  Previously, the Y: The Last Man comic series was set to be a film.

Y: The Last Man is produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson's Color Force (Pose, American Crime Story). Based on DC's Vertigo series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, the show stars Ben Schnetzer, Diane Lane, Imogen Poots, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Elliot Fletcher. Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim) is set to direct the pilot.
