10 Characters Loki Could Introduce Into The MCU | CBR

The fact that Marvel’s next show on Disney+, Loki, is the first show on the platform that could conceivably run longer than one season has been setting off many alarms for fans of Marvel Comics. With enough time and space, a character like Loki could introduce a whole host of characters to the franchise.

After all, Loki has been a prominent character for many years — not just since his inclusion in the movie Thor (2011). The show’s story will also likely see a great deal of magic and universe manipulation, which could lend itself to bringing in even more great characters. If there are about to be any new characters introduced to the MCU, Loki might just be the show to do it in.

10 Doctor Doom Has Not Yet Appeared

Fans are certainly expecting Doctor Doom to show up at some point in the MCU. He’s one of Marvel’s most popular villains; the fact that he hasn’t appeared yet is most likely due to the fact that the Fantastic Four themselves have not yet been introduced.

However, now that fans know the Fantastic Four are soon to arrive in the franchise, they similarly know that Doctor Doom could not be far off. In the comic book crossover “Acts of Vengeance” from the late 1980s/early 1990s, Doctor Doom and Loki were on the same team — and a similar cosmic team could be assembled in Loki.

9 Magneto Could Still Show Up

Like Doctor Doom, Magneto was a member of Loki’s team in the “Acts of Vengeance” storyline in Marvel Comics. Also like Doctor Doom, Magneto is a character who will inevitably appear in the MCU at some point, but has not just yet due to recently-resolved copyright issues.

Even if Loki were to simply tease the introduction of a major villain like Magneto, they would still have the space to do so, as well as the thematic reasoning to do it in a light-hearted, flippant, and possibly even speedy manner.

8 Beta Ray Bill Is Long Overdue In The MCU

Some fans are already anticipating that Beta Ray Bill is going to appear in the MCU sooner rather than later. In fact, there are quite a few internet theorists that have begun speculating that Christian Bale’s as-yet-unnamed role in Thor: Love and Thunder will be Beta Ray Bill, while others are still suspicious (and still others believe Bale could be playing Gorr the God Butcher).

In any case, Beta Ray Bill is someone that viewers would love to see in the MCU, as strange-looking as he is. His peculiar appearance may even prove that he’d be better off being introduced in a show like Loki, as opposed to a major movie.

7 Enchantress Could Show Up To Fight Thor Later

There are two different characters in Marvel Comics who have taken up the mantle of Enchantress over the years, and, honestly, either one of them could be used in the show Loki. Amora, the first Enchantress, worked with Loki against Thor in the comics; the second Enchantress, Sylvie Lushton, was used by Loki to cause mischief.

Fans would probably want to see Amora take up the role first — especially as she is a classic Thor villain, and often falls in love with Loki. She would not only be an interesting love interest for Loki, but a great character to introduce in her own right — and possibly even a new villain for Thor to fight later on.

6 The Silver Surfer Deserves A Second Chance

While the Silver Surfer has been introduced on the silver screen in the 21st century, he has not yet made an appearance in the MCU. Like characters such as Doctor Doom, it’s likely that the Silver Surfer hasn’t shown up yet due to existing copyright issues — or simply just not having enough space and time for such a character in the franchise just yet.

In any case, the Silver Surfer deserves a second chance. This complicated character could be brought into Loki as he travels through space and time, potentially in a bid to stop Loki — or even, perhaps, to herald Galactus coming to the MCU, as he so famously does.

5 Hercules May Be Appearing Soon Anyways

When it was rumored that the MCU was looking to steal Henry Cavill from the DCEU and cast him in their own franchise, theories instantly started to fly over who he could potentially be cast as. While there were many potential options, most agreed that he would likely portray a character like Hercules.

Whether or not Henry Cavill is the one brought in to play the character, however, he would be a great hero to bring into the MCU through Loki. Like Thor, he’s the son of a God — in this case, the son of Zeus — and became an Avenger, one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

4 Angela Could Tie Thor And Loki Back Together

Thor: Ragnarok revealed that Thor and Loki had a sister, Hela, who had been locked up and was hell-bent on continuing her earlier work. In Marvel Comics, they have another sister named Angela. It was revealed that Angela was the true sister of Thor in the comics, as well as that Angela was alive and one of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now that Thor is involved with the Guardians, and Loki has regressed (due to the new Loki being killed, and the old one taking off to start this new story), bringing in a character like Angela right now may just be the exact right call. She could tie everything together and bring Loki back to his brother once and for all.

3 Squirrel Girl Was Friends With Loki — And Could Be Again

An unexpected fan-favorite Marvel character is Squirrel Girl, who seems to understand that there is no real “good” or “bad,” but simply many, many complicated shades of grey. She gets along fairly well with villains, being as understanding as she is. Surprisingly, Loki is no exception, and the two of them even mildly befriend each other in the comics.

While he’s still mischievous around her, Squirrel Girl is actually able to hold her own with Loki enough to actually become his friend. While it may be a long shot, if she were to appear in any show right now, Squirrel Girl would likely pop up in Loki.

2 Lady Loki Could Bring The Franchise A Queer Character

Loki is a canonically genderfluid character who has stated this multiple times in the comics. In addition, there are multiple versions of Loki in the comics where he appears in different bodies. As he is genderfluid, he has no problem becoming Lady Loki — a version of himself where he is put into the body of a cis female, which was intended for Lady Sif, not for him.

Later in the comics, Loki willingly chose to shapeshift in and out of the Lady Loki form. The Loki show would be the perfect place to explore Loki as a queer character and to finally allow a canonical trans character into the MCU.

1 Kid Loki Should Show Up And Join The Young Avengers

Lady Loki isn’t Loki’s only other form that he can take. In the comics, at one point, Loki was reborn into a younger version of himself, Kid Loki, who became a hero of sorts.

While he is still something of the mischievous troublemaker that Loki always is, he was distraught about his past adult self’s villainous actions, and wanted to do good to make up for them. If Loki were to die in Loki as an adult, he could be reborn as Kid Loki and join the other Young Avengers who are already being slowly assembled in the MCU.
