10 Most Wanted Anime Characters, Ranked By Bounty | CBR

From Cowboy Bebop to Outlaw Star, there's no shortage of anime featuring bounty hunters. But what's a good bounty hunter without a worthy target to chase? And what makes it worth it, anyway? For hunters, it's definitely the price on their target's head. Small fry crooks with insignificant price tags aren't worth the time unless a hunter is really hurting for some cash.

On the other hand, someone with a large bounty might not necessarily be the public enemy who law enforcement claims they are. Regardless of whether the bounty belongs to a true criminal or not, it's undeniable that the controversy surrounding them is what earned them their wanted posters. And watching them clash with hunters (and even other wanted characters) is an exciting experience.

10 The Legendary Wanted Man Zomba Was Worth 10,000 Wong (Outlaw Star)

Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking accepted a contract to hunt down Zomba and cash in on the hefty reward while they were headed to Heifong. Although Zomba dresses as a Christian preacher, he is no man of God. During their battle at an abandoned church, Zomba had no qualms about using his bladed cyborg body to attack Gene. Although they agreed to fight without guns, Gene shot Zomba to death, claiming he never holds back when fighting cyborgs. Unfortunately, the cyborg was an impostor only worth 2,000 wong. The real Zomba was taken down by Twilight Suzuka.

9 The Amnesiac Fugitive Ellis Is Worth $1,000,000 (El Cazador De La Bruja)

Ellis is suspected of the murder of Dr. Heinrich "Heinz" Schneider, a doctor of physics who was working on Project LEVIATHAN. The project aimed to recreate "The Witches," a race of powerful beings capable of several supernatural feats, such as levitation. And Ellis is part of that research. Presumed to be bounty hunter Nadie's catch, Nadie has actually been hired to protect Ellis from other bounty hunters looking to cash in on the $1,000,000 reward.

And after con artist Whitney Haggis Matsumoto scammed even more debt onto her hefty bill, Faye decided to kiss her past life goodbye and start over as a con artist herself. Known to be a lazy and indulgent opportunist, Faye somehow always manages to land on her feet. It's thanks to this quality that she was never caught, meaning some lucky cowboy might eventually cash in on 6,000,000 woolongs.

6 Abdul Hakim Earned Himself An 8,000,000 Woolong Bounty After Stealing Ein The Data Dog (Cowboy Bebop)

Hakim built his criminal record on stealing pets, which is exactly how he makes his entrance into Cowboy Bebop. He stole the data dog Ein from a research facility that greatly enhanced Ein's intelligence. While searching for a buyer to take the valuable animal off his hands, another thief steals Hakim's briefcase with the data dog inside. Spike was just about to give up on hunting Hakim when a scuffle at a nearby pet shop revealed Hakim trying to snatch Ein back from the thief. After a brief chase and fight scene, Spike obtains Ein as bait to lure in Hakim—but Hakim is ultimately captured by the ISSP, meaning Spike lost out on the bounty.

Creed is a sociopath with a god complex and the leader of a cult called the Apostles of the Stars. Although the Apostles' chief goal is to subvert the world order and place Creed as the world's single leader, Creed is most concerned with winning Train Heartnet over to his side.

The chaos and destruction that seems to follow Vash wherever he goes have given him the nickname "the Humanoid Typhoon," a reference to the natural disaster. Accordingly, many characters in Trigun picture him to be an imposing figure, which couldn't be further from the truth. Vash's catchphrase is "Love & Peace" and he lives by the pacifist teachings of his mentor, Rem Saverem.
