Blumhouse & EPIX's House on the Bayou Finds Its Leads | CBR

The first collaboration between Blumhouse and EPIX, the horror movie House on the Bayou, has cast its lead roles.

According to Variety, Paul Schneider, Angela Sarafyan, Jacob Lofland and Lia McHugh will play the principal roles in House on the Bayou, while the supporting cast will feature Doug Van Liew and Lauren Richards. This cast will be working with writer/director Alex McAulay, the filmmaker previously responsible for the feature Don't Tell a Soul.

The film follows a troubled couple (Schneider and Sarafyan) and their teenage daughter (McHugh) who take a trip to the Louisiana bayou to reconnect as a family. However, when unexpected guests arrive, their strength as a family will be tested.

A House on the Bayou is the first in a deal that will see Blumhouse produce eight horror/thriller feature films for the premium cable channel EPIX. "This partnership with EPIX is an additional opportunity for us to collaborate with a great team in helping them grow their slate of genre films, while continuing to bring Blumhouse fans the kind of programming they know and love," Blumhouse Television President Chris McCumber said when the deal was announced.

Blumhouse Productions has widely expanded its reach in recent years. The outfit behind horror films like The Purge and the newest Halloween films has also delivered a series of horror features to Amazon through the Welcome to the Blumhouse label and developed original TV shows like Sharp Objects.

A House on the Bayou is currently aiming for a late 2021 debut on EPIX.
