Champions Confirms That Ironheart HATES an MCU's Heroes Kid | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Champions #6 by Eve L. Ewing, Luciano Vecchio, Federico Blee & VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

The Champions are still reeling as a team following the events of Outlawed. Due to an incident where Kamala Khan was injured, a law was passed that banned teenage superheroes and resulted in them being hunted down for the government by a team of soldiers called C.R.A.D.L.E. Roxxon also ran dangerous reeducation camps that served as brainwashing centers for young heroes.

To make matters worse, the Champions were betrayed by one of their own. The latest issue of their series confirms that Ironheart/Riri Williams still harbors negative feelings toward the traitor despite everyone else forgiving her.

The traitor turned out to be Viv Vision, Vision's daughter and someone the Champions took a while to acclimatize to. In the latest issue, the team foils a group of supposed bank robbers in New York City, but in the aftermath, they discover the thieves were hired to test the security system. Viv's running the playback with the company via hologram, leaving them with egg on their face.

Riri is immediately incensed, wondering how they're supposed to chart a new frontier in their careers if they can't nail something as simple as recon. She lashes out at Viv for being incompetent, while also addressing her trust issues. Riri reminds everyone that Viv was the one who sold them out, thinking she was doing so for their benefit.

Ironheart flies off, leaving Kamala to console Viv who's hurt and broken. As much as they want to put the past behind, it has left a bad aftertaste, which Miles Morales gets more insight on when he tracks Riri down. She doesn't mince words because while the law's on pause, teens heroes are still running scared.

The Champions saw oppressive monsters come after their generation as part of Roxxon's plans to subjugate the demographic, and Riri is not prepared to forgive Viv for the role she played in their hardships. In fact, she chides Miles as well for initially thinking she was the traitor.

In Ironheart's eyes, Viv was the catalyst and represents everything that is wrong with the team. Riri hates that they took her back and are expected to play nice, especially when she thinks they could just get stabbed in the back again. Miles, unfortunately, can't change her mind regarding Viv's redemption, but Riri's staying on for now as she wants to finish the war Roxxon started, especially as the Champions now seem to have infiltrated the sinister company.
