Invincible creator Robert Kirkman says fans of the original comic book can expect to see various Easter eggs "peppered" throughout Amazon's animated adaptation, which premiered on Prime Video in March.
"There's a lot of callbacks to little moments that happened in the comics," Kirkman said during a video interview with Collider. "There's a lot of Easter eggs from the comics that get adapted into the show. There's a lot of different little things that you might not be expecting that'll crop up here and there. So, we've had a lot of fun with different little Easter eggs that we've peppered in."
Created and executive produced by Kirkman, Amazon's Invincible is based on the Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment series of the same name written by Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, which originally launched in 2003. The adult animated series premiered its first three episodes on Prime Video on March 26, with new episodes arriving on a weekly basis. Invincible Season 1 will consist of eight episodes. Kirkman wrote the season's first episode, as well as its finale, the latter of which is expected to arrive on April 30.
Invincible stars Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, Chris Diamantopoulos, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin and Max Burkholder. The series is produced by Skybound, and executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Simon Racioppa, David Alpert and Catherine Winder. New episodes release Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
