Lucifer Star Clears Up an Amenadiel Debate Ahead of Season 5B

At the end of Lucifer's Season 5A, time froze amidst a brotherly celestial battle.

Since Lucifer's Season 5A dropped on Netflix in August 2020, Luci-fans wondered who caused time to freeze in its season finale. Theories ranged from Lucifer to God to the eldest celestial brother, Amenadiel. Now, D.B. Woodside -- who portrays Lucifer's oldest and wisest brother -- clarified this fact for fans, writing on Twitter, "It was Amenadiel. Now you're ready for 5b."

Previously, some fans thought that Lucifer froze time as a result of not being able to tell Chloe he loves her. While Lucifer fans will have to wait until Season 5b's debut to see how that conversation plays out, the show's co-showrunner Joe Henderson promised more romance ahead, noting, "You guys are gonna be very happy with certain things."

Henderson also previously revealed that Amenadiel's Season 5b journey will be heavily focused on resolving his issues with his father as he simultaneously embraces his new duties as a father. Henderson told CBR, "In 5b, a lot of Amenadiel's arc is looking at his father from an entirely new perspective, as a fellow father. What would he do similarly? Differently? What did he wish his father did for him? And what are the things that in seeing his own father he realizes he needed to do to him at that time?"

D.B. Woodside will also be having his directorial debut on the hit Netflix show's sixth season. Woodside will direct the eighth episode, "Save the Devil, Save the World." Woodside first revealed he would be directing an episode for the show's sixth and final season in July. At the time of the announcement, he stated, "Happy to announce that I will be returning to Lucifer for Season 6. Additionally, I will be directing an episode for our final season. This is a beautiful cast. We stand by each other. We fight for one another."

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Det. Chloe Decker, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez. The first half of Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix, while Season 5b starts streaming on May 28.
