There were lots of different jutsu and abilities showcased in Naruto, most of which were used by ninja of all nations. However, some abilities were unique to a particular clan or a person due to their unique DNA structure. These abilities were called Kekkei Genkai or Bloodline Traits, and they either occurred in a single person or were passed down through the generations of a clan.
There were several clans with Kekkei Genkai that were feared for their powers. This is why they were hunted down and killed by other shinobi. Sometimes, a member would survive their clan’s massacre, which made them the only person in the world who could use their clan’s Kekkei Genkai.
10 Haku Was The Sole Surviving Yuki Who Could Use Ice Release
Haku was one of the last surviving members of the Yuki clan, a clan that was hunted down and killed by the residents of the Land of Water who feared the ones with Kekkei Genkai. His own father gathered a mob to kill him, but he escaped by using his ice release to kill everyone, including his father.
He was found by Zabuza, who trained him to be used as a weapon. With this Kekkei Genkai, Haku created weapons made of ice, turned the very moisture in the air to ice, and created an inescapable dome of ice mirrors that he trapped Naruto and Sasuke in.
9 Suigetsu Of The Hozuki Clan Could Turn Into Water At Will
Suigetsu and his brother Mangetsu were the last known members of the Hozuki clan, both of whom dreamed of being a part of the 7 ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. After Mangetsu’s death, Suigetsu was captured by Orochimaru, who experimented on him because of his abilities.
The Hozuki clan could turn their body to water at will and were experts at using water style ninjutsu. Suigetsu could increase his size if he had access to large amounts of water, and hitting him was difficult as he could turn himself into water. Since his body was made up of water, he had to make sure that he was hydrated at all times in order to use his abilities.
8 Kimimaro’s Shikotsumyaku Kekkei Genkai Allowed Him To Use His Bones As Weapons
Kimimaro was the last member of the Kaguya clan and possessed a Kekkei Genkai that was rare even within his own clan, called Shikotsumyaku, which allowed him to manipulate his bones according to his will.
There was no limit to the things that he could do with this ability, seeing how easily he could use his bones as blades or shields, and even change their density to protect himself.
7 Jugo Was Unpredictable In Nature & Could Absorb Senjutsu Passively
Jugo belonged to an unknown clan that had the ability to absorb Senjutsu naturally, with which they could transform themselves or their body parts however they wanted. One side-effect of their ability was that they went into fits of rage whenever they used this energy.
Jugo once went on a murderous rampage and killed an entire village and, disgusted with what he had done, chose to isolate himself so that he would not cause more harm to others. Orochimaru used Jugo’s cells to create the Cursed Seal that he used on his followers.
6 Guren Was The Only Person In The Ninja World Known To Use Crystal Release
Guren was one of Orochimaru’s loyal and powerful subordinates who had been shunned by her village. When Orochimaru destroyed her village, he took an interest in her because of her rare Kekkei Genkai. She had Crystal Release which gave her the ability to create and summon crystals, and she was the only known person in the ninja world who could use this type of release.
She could use crystals to create shuriken, walls, protective domes, and even encase people into domes. Due to the rarity of this Kekkei Genkai ability, Orochimaru wanted to make Guren his host so that he could wield her power.
5 Ranmaru’s Kekkei Genkai Helped Raiga Fight By Becoming His Eyes & Ears
Ranmaru was weak as a child and survived on the food that some villagers were kind enough to give him. After he revealed his abilities accidentally, they stopped giving him food and shunned him. He was found by Raiga, who took him under his protection.
Ranmaru's Kekkei Genkai gave him the ability to see through walls, cast genjutsu, counter other dojutsu, and predict what attack an opponent was going to make. He could also see the physical life force inside a person’s body to check if they were dead or alive and could bring them back to life by transferring his life force to them
4 Yakumo Kurama Could Kill Someone Using Her Kekkei Genkai Genjutsu
Yakumo was a member of the Kurama clan, a clan where, every few generations, a member was born with an incredible talent for genjutsu. Yakumo’s genjutsu was so powerful that it caused one's brain to believe anything happening to them if the genjutsu was real and its effects reflected physically on the victim’s body.
The power came with its own drawbacks, seeing how it created a split personality in the wielder. This, in turn, caused Yakumo to turn into a demon and threaten the lives of everyone around her.
3 Chino Was The Sole Survivor Of The Chinoike Clan Who Could Use Ketsuryugan
Chino was the last member of the Chinoike clan from the Valley of Hell, who possessed the Clan’s Kekkei Genkai Ketsuryugan.
The Ketsuryugan was considered to be an even stronger Kekkei Genkai than the Sharingan and allowed her to cast powerful genjutsu, with which she could easily trap her opponents. She could manipulate iron-rich liquids such as blood at close range and she could even make people explode at will.
2 Terumi Mei Was The Only Ninja Who Had Access To Two Kekkei Genkai
Terumi Mei, the 5th Mizukage of the Hidden Mist, was one of the strongest shinobi in the shinobi world. She was the only known ninja in the world who possessed 2 Kekkei Genkai abilities, which were the Lava release and Boil release.
She could use both of them extremely well, and her abilities made her strong enough to go toe to toe with Madara Uchiha during the Fourth Great Ninja War.
1 Hashirama Was The Only Ninja Who Could Use Wood Release
Hashirama Senju was a reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths' younger son, Asura, and like him, Hashirama possessed a strong life force. His chakra was so great that he could use earth and water nature transformation to create trees.
Wood Release was one of the strongest Kekkei Genkai that was only rivaled by the Uchiha’s Sharingan. Wood Release was a versatile ability that was famous for suppressing the chakra of others and was used by Hashirama to subdue the tailed beasts. This Kekkei Genkai was unique to Hashirama and no other person was known to possess this ability. Yamato and Madara were only able to use wood release because they had Hashirama’s cells planted in them.
