There’s been a lot of celebration and excitement over Attack on Titan ever since its debut, but the series has gone on to gain a whole other level of appreciation as it completes its story. Attack on Titan encompasses a much deeper scope than what was initially expected and it has become one of the most satisfying examinations of humanity and the dangers of the corrupting nature of power.
All of Attack on Titan’s signature characters are important in their own ways, and the anime allows them great depth. Sasha Braus is a vital member of the series who contributes to the fate of the world in some major ways. Sasha accomplishes some amazing things, but she’s also just someone that’s hard not to love for her personality and charisma alone.
10 Sasha's Introduction When She Steals A Potato
Attack on Titan is a show that's full of powerful introductions, some of which mean even more after the incredible journey that these characters have been on. Sasha's first big appearance is also one of her best moments, which helps both the Survey Corps and audience simultaneously fall in love with her. Sasha gets dubbed "potato girl" after her hunger gets the better of her and she steals a potato. The unexpected act helps break the tension for many new recruits, including Eren, and immediately establishes Sasha's passion for food.
9 Sasha Takes On Titans And Save Civilians With Only A Bow And Arrow
The humans in Attack on Titan become progressively more confident in their ability to eliminate the deadly Titans, but there's usually specific equipment and weaponry that's necessary to pull off the job. There's a thrilling moment early on where Sasha gets exposed to Titans without any backup and all she's equipped with is a bow and arrow. Sasha manages to not just save a young girl that's about to get eaten, but Sasha nails the Titan with an arrow. Sasha retreats, but the fact that she was brave enough to confront the Titans with conventional weapons is a testament to her character.
8 She Clues Into The Incoming Female Titan Attack
Strength is essential in Attack on Titan, but the series often demonstrates how intelligence and an unexpected strategy are often just as important. Earlier on in the series, the Survey Corps are forced into a position of complacency while they avoid harm within the safety of the walls.
Many Survey Corps members recharge their batteries during this monotony, but Sasha remains on full alert. She notices acute vibrations coming off of the table and deduces that they’re footsteps from a nearby Titan and that an attack is imminent. It’s an early example of Sasha’s perceptive nature.
7 She Saves Samuel With Her ODM Gear
Attack on Titan often has many balls in the air at once and it’s common for several enemies to simultaneously strike and for the Survey Corps to be divided across several areas. The initial attack against the Colossal Titan hinges mostly on Eren’s ability to properly use his Titan powers and fight back. The Colossal Titan is the priority, but Sasha plays another crucial role while everyone else is distracted. Samuel messes up and nearly meets his end, only for Sasha to selflessly risk her own well being as she uses her ODM gear to rescue her fallen comrade.
6 Sasha Joins The Survey Corps To Protect Her Village And History
Sasha is one of the few Attack on Titan characters that actually has a decent background in hunting, which was instilled in her by her father. Sasha learns fundamental skills through her father's lessons and it hardens her at an early age. This pushes Sasha to be able to make difficult decisions, chief among them being her decision to leave her father behind and join the Survey Corps. Sasha does this so that she can preserve her village and keep her past from being erased. It's an incredibly honorable reason to get involved in something so dangerous.
5 She Improves The Survey Corps’ Morale Post-Trost
Attack on Titan is an anime that’s full of highs and lows. Whenever it feels like the heroes have achieved some stability, it usually means that disaster is about to strike. The team faces heavy losses in Trost and it leaves them destabilized and at their lowest.
The Survey Corps experiences death on a personal level and it’s Sasha who’s able to get everyone out of this funk with her atypical attitude. Sasha attempts to improve levity and get her team back to an okay state and remind everyone how important it is to not lose their humanity.
4 She’s Trusted To Deliver Erwin's Letter
There’s constant subterfuge in Attack on Titan and the anime reaches a point where everything that’s said and done should be questioned and not taken at face value. One of the biggest conflicts that consumes the heroes during the start of their journey is the identity of the Armored and Colossal Titan. It turns out that Erwin places this information in a letter that he chooses Sasha to deliver. This is a pivotal piece of information that changes the future of the series. It’s easy to fall even harder for Sasha when she’s chosen for this responsibility and also completes the mission.
3 Niccolo’s Posthumous Speech About Sasha
The latest season of Attack on Titan introduces a lot of new characters that play important roles regarding the ultimate fate of Eldia and Marley. Niccolo is a skilled chef that doesn’t fight against the Titans through battle but is still a valuable ally as Eldia attempts to establish their new normal. Niccolo doesn’t know Sasha for very long, but he quickly falls for her and defends her honor after her life gets taken away. It’s one final reminder of the impact that Sasha has made and why she’s such a great character.
2 She Tastes Seafood For The First Time
Sasha is a character in Attack on Titan that’s led by her appetite and some of the funniest moments from the entire series revolve around her passion for food. Sasha’s enthusiasm for cuisine is an easy way to lighten the mood, but Season 4 details a divine sequence where Sasha experiences seafood for the first time. The experience is transformative for her and she can’t believe the delicious nature of lobster. This is a time that’s fraught with tension, but Sasha’s love for lobster is an important moment of honesty and vulnerability.
1 A Rogue Bullet Takes Her Out
Attack on Titan is filled with loss from the very first episode, but the latest season doesn’t hold back when it comes to casualties. Attack on Titan’s final season really focuses on Marley’s side of the conflict and presents them as heroes in opposition to Eren’s controversial actions. This conflict catapults young Gabi into a crucial role and she happens to end Sasha’s life when her assassination plans go awry. The devastating moment comes as a major shock, but underscores just how beloved a character Sasha has become. Even her final words are about food.
