Attack On Titan: 5 Anime Characters Who Could Stop The Rumbling (& 5 Who Couldn't)

Near the conclusion of the Attack On Titan series, Eren unlocked the secrets of the Founding Titan and reached the precipice of his power. In addition to commanding an army of colossal titans, he transformed himself into a monstrosity so large that its body was partially obscured by the clouds.

These augmentations precipitated a genocidal rampage that would become known as "the Rumbling," where he attempted to exterminate all non-Eldian life on the planet. Through identifying the anime characters who could stop Yeager's brutality, we gain a better understanding of how inexorable the end of the world really was.

10 Would Fail: All Might Would Struggle Reaching Eren, Let Alone Defeating Him (My Hero Academia)

All Might may have wielded immense physical strength capable of sending large opponents flying into the sky with a single punch, he's incapable of flight himself. The furthest he's been seen leaping is above the skyscrapers of Kamino.

Considering that a standard colossal titan towers at least four times the height of a building (and that Eren is at least four times as large as they are in turn), it follows that All Might would have an extremely difficult time reaching Yeager's neck, let alone defeating his giant hordes.

9 Could Stop: Madara's Susanoos Would Provide A Perfect Foil To The Titans (Naruto)

Madara was capable of summoning dozens of Susanoo, as proven through his victory over the Five Kage. Given this, he should have little difficulty in creating a necessary diversion for Eren's titans while he takes the fight to Yeager himself. Capable of unleashing a massive, fiery inferno with a single breath, he'd have little difficulty detonating the nape of Yeager's neck and separating him from the Founder. From there, his victory is assured.

8 Would Fail: Tatsumi Could Barely Stop A Single Giant & Would Soon Find Himself Overwhelmed (Akame Ga Kill!)

Tatsumi's Imperial Arms covered him in a durable suit of armor that also bestowed him with full invisibility. Considering that he was able to fly, the nape of Eren's neck would be accessible to the Night Raid rebel.

However, he does not have the striking power necessary to break Yeager's bones and separate him from his colossals before the shifters on his back would come to his defense. Considering that Tatsumi was barely able to defeat even a single giant in his own series, be it when fighting Dr. Stylish or the Emperor, he'd soon find himself overwhelmed.

7 Could Stop: Escanor Is Virtually Indestructible After Becoming The One (Seven Deadly Sins)

A great advantage that Escanor might capitalize on is that he could choose when to attack. Since the Rumbling took several days to fully accomplish, the Lion Sin could enter the fray somewhere between 11:50 and 11:55 to optimize his power.

Strong enough to shrug off an attack by Galand (who could destroy a village in seconds) and fast enough to dodge blows from Ludociel, he would only need two cruel suns to win - the first would separate Yeager from the Founder, and the second would finish him off.

6 Would Fail: Aaronierro Has Low Mobility & Relatively Weak Attacks (Bleach)

Aaroniero was the ninth Espada in Aizen's service and a relatively weak creature in spite of his ability to consume other hollows. At the precipice of his strength, he rode on a tidal wave of consumed souls and severely injured Rukia. However, the villain has displayed abysmal mobility and comparatively low striking power when gauging what would be necessary to penetrate Eren's wall of titans and destroy his nape.

5 Could Stop: Meruem Is Virtually Impervious To Blunt Attacks (Hunter X Hunter)

Meruem is virtually impervious to blunt attacks, having only felt a dull throng of pain during his fight against Netero after taking hundreds of enhanced direct hits, each of which powerful enough to rattle a large crypt. It follows that he'd be able to resist being stepped on by a colossal or shot at from one of the War Hammer titans on Yeager's back.

Although he can't fly in his base form, he could use his incredible speed and mobility to race up Yeager's ribcage. From there, he could separate the head from the nape with a powerful flick of his tail.

4 Would Fail: Tanjiro's Enhanced Swordsmanship Would Be Useless Against The Titans (Demon Slayer)

Tanjiro's greatest feat of physical strength was his ability to cleave through a dense boulder. Able to weave gracefully throughout the battlefield and infuse his weapon with both fire and water, he poses a formidable threat against most opponents of his size.

However, not only is the demon slayer unable to fly, he would risk breaking his blades against titan skin like he did against Rui's webs. Unfortunately, the hero would get stomped on long before seeing the back of Eren's body.

3 Could Stop: Whitebeard Could Simply Crack The Earth & Make The Titans Fall Through It (One Piece)

Once regarded as the most powerful pirate alive, Whitebeard's Tremor Tremor fruit was capable of terraforming the oceans and destroying Marineford in seconds. He also showed an aptitude for defeating giants, as proven through his instant victory over Ronse.

Should Whitebeard simply target the earth beneath the titans, he'd be able to annihilate Yeager's entire army by sending it plummeting into a chasm like he did against Akainu. From there, Eren would be virtually helpless to prevent the Emperor from destroying his bones and crushing his head.

2 Couldn't Stop: Scar Has The Power To Destroy Eren's Head, But Not The Means (Fullmetal Alchemist)

When using both hands of alchemy, Scar proved to be a formidable warrior. One arm was purposed for impaling his adversaries on earthen skewers, while the other could obliterate anything he touched with a single swipe. This entails that he'd be able to destroy Eren's nape with relative ease.

However, the Ishvallan's average mobility entails he'd have no means of reaching his opponent. Scar's spikes could skewer the feet of his titan adversaries but wouldn't prevent them from stomping him flat.

1 Could Stop: Giorno Would Have As Many Opportunities As Needed To Defeat Eren (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

After attaining a Requiem Stand, Giorno was literally unbeatable. He could revert any damage or unfavorable event to the quality of zero, essentially rendering him immune to all attacks that Yeager or his army might throw at him.

Capable of flying (as proven through his fight against Diavolo), the mafia boss would obliterate Yeager's neck with a flurry of decisive punches from his Stand and defeat Eren just as easily a second time in his colossal form.
