Jim Carrey Gives Sonic 2 Crew Member a New Car | CBR

Comedy legend Jim Carrey showed his appreciation for the team behind the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by gifting one of his crew members with a brand new car.

As a sign of gratitude for his teammates' work, Carrey gave a Chevy Blazer RS car to a grip on set, according to Variety. The car was offered as the grand prize of a raffle held by Carrey on the film's set in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The winner was announced on May 7.

While specifics about the gifted car have not been revealed, the base model Chevy Blazer RS currently retails for just over $40,000.

Carrey starred as the villainous Dr. Robotnik in 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog and is reprising the role in the forthcoming sequel. While the sequel's plot hasn't been revealed yet, fans speculate that the story will involve Miles "Tails" Prower, a character who was introduced in the first film's post-credits scene.

"Of all the screenings that I would pop in for, seeing people's reaction to Tails showing up at the end... Nothing could have prepared me!" Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler shared following the film's release. "I just never got sick of it. I just loved it. And the idea that we made this whole movie, and we didn't have a single scene of Sonic and Tails together. it's incredible, but it also is so exciting [for a sequel]."

James Marsden also revealed his hopes for the Sonic sequel in an interview last year, saying at the time, "Well, I think we'd do a lot more of the same, but we would probably hopefully throw even more set pieces in there and more action sequences. I think we'd hopefully introduce some new characters, some beloved characters from the video game. If you stayed through the credits, you saw a little introduction to Tails. Hoping we'd see Tails come in."

Aquaman star Jason Momoa is reportedly in talks to voice Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. However, Momoa has yet to accept this role at the time of this writing.

Written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is directed by Jeff Fowler. The film will hit theaters on April 8, 2022.
