Dio is constantly conjuring up new ways to torment Jonathan. One of the evilest ways he punishes Jonathan is by killing his beloved dog, Danny. Mistaken for a box of trash, Danny is placed in the incinerator and dies an excruciating death.

9 When He Kisses Erina

Living under the constant torment of Dio, Jonathan has few moments of peace. When Jonathan meets Erina Pendleton, he finds an escape. As the two spend time together, Jonathan is able to forget his troubles.

Dio notices the change in Jonathan and suspects that Erina is the cause. The ruinous villain that he is, Dio plots to steal Jonathan's source of happiness. He kisses Erina to make things awkward between her and Jonathan, taking away Jonathan's one and only source of solace.

8 When He Uses The Stone Mask To Become Immortal

The Stone Mask is an ancient artifact that hangs in the Joestar mansion. During his years studying archaeology, Jonathan tries to determine the purpose and mystery of the mask. While snooping around, Dio discovers Jonathan's notes and theories about the mask.

Dio has a thirst for power that he can never quite quench. Once he discovers the powers of the Stone Mask, he uses it to become immortal. He transforms into a vampire and sets out to destroy Jonathan and the Joestar bloodline.

7 When He Shows Up On Jonathan's Honeymoon

Sometime after Jonathan defeats Dio, he and Erina depart on their honeymoon to the U.S. While enjoying dinner one evening on the ship, Jonathan notices the familiar face of one of Dio's devoted followers.

The ship erupts into a feeding freezing, with everyone turning into vampires. Although Dio has been reduced to just his head, he still causes destruction. Jonathan risks his life to finally put an end to Dio, blowing up the ship and going down with it.

6 When He Turns A Woman Into A Vampire & She Eats Her Baby

One of the most disturbing things Dio has done is turning a young mother into a vampire. As Dio gains power, he recruits individuals to become part of his vampire squad. Dio uses his powers of seduction to enlist many followers with little resistance.

Some people are not as fortunate and become victims of Dio's evil. A young mother allows Dio to turn her into a vampire if he will spare her baby's life. Dio gladly accepts the offer and turns the mother. However, the newly turned vampire must eat, and the closest source of food is none other than her own baby.

5 When He Takes Over Jonathan's Body

Dio is nothing if not resourceful. When he gets knocked down, he finds a way to slither his way back into the picture. One way Dio is able to remain a villain after he is defeated is by taking over Jonathan Joestar's body.

Even though Dio spent years torturing Jonathan, he developed a twisted admiration of him. Dio recognizes and respects Jonathan's strength. Jonathan's body is the only vessel Dio deems suitable for him, and he successfully reattaches his head to Jonathan's body to continue living.

4 When He Recruits Stand Users To Do His Bidding

Dio manages to survive by taking over Jonathan's body, but he is confined to the shadows while he waits for his neck wound to fully heal. Although still incredibly powerful, his abilities are not at the level he needs to fight Jotaro.

Dio once again recruits others to do his bidding for him. He uses people with special abilities, known as Stands, to fight in his place until he is at full strength. Jotaro and his group face off against many of these powerful Stand users on their journey to defeat Dio.

3 When He Kills Enya

One of Dio's most loyal and trusted followers is the old hag, Enya. Not only is Enya responsible for creating Stand users with the bow and arrow, but she also dispatches the Stand users under Dio's direction to defeat Jotaro and his group.

When the other Stand users fail, Enya faces Jotaro on her own. Even though she is evil, Jotaro leaves her alive hoping to learn more about Dio's stand. Dio, however, uses the flesh bud he implanted in Enya to kill her. As she is dying, Enya still does not betray Dio.

2 When He Kills Kakyoin

Seduced by Dio, Kakyoin becomes one of the very first brainwashed Stand users. Jotaro removes the flesh bud that is implanted in Kakyoin. Angry that he was used by Dio, Kakyoin decides to help Jotaro take Dio down.

In a battle that turns the tide for Jotaro and his crew, Kakyoin uncovers the mystery of Dio's Stand. Dio uses The World to stop time and punches a hole through Kakyoin's body. Kakyoin is doomed before he even realizes it and dies, sending one final message with Hierophant Green to help the others.

1 When He Sucks The Life Out Of Joseph

As Joseph is trying to warn Jotaro about Dio's Stand, Dio stops time and stabs Joseph. Jotaro and Dio face off in their final battle, with Jotaro landing some serious blows. With his vampire powers, however, Dio is able to recover quickly.

At one point during their fight, Dio suffers from a crushed skull and is unable to move his lower limbs. He miraculously finds himself near Joseph's body and proceeds to drain Joseph of his blood, leaving behind a withered corpse.
