Paddington 2 Loses Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Weeks After Dethroning Citizen Kane

Paddington 2, which recently surpassed Citizen Kane in Rotten Tomatoes' rankings, no longer holds a perfect 100% on the movie review aggregate site.

Paralleling how Kane lost its perfect score with the addition of one negative review from its original theatrical release previously uncounted on Rotten Tomatoes, Paddington 2 fell due to the addition of a two-star review by Eddie Harrison of film-authority.com. While this written review was just published today, Harrison previously gave the film a negative review for BBC Radio upon its initial release.

Harrison's main issue with the film, according to his review, is that it doesn't fit what he wanted from a Paddington adaptation, saying "This is not my Paddington Bear, but a sinister, malevolent imposter who should be shot into space, or nuked from space at the first opportunity."

Paddington 2 now falls to #79 on Rotten Tomatoes' Top 100 Movies of All Time, which is based on an adjusted score rather than the raw Tomatometer percentage. Citizen Kane is at #5. It Happened One Night, which also has 99% on the Tomatometer, is currently ranked at #1 in the adjusted ranking.

The 2018 drama Leave No Trace is currently the film with the most reviews to still hold a 100% Tomatometer ranking. Other movies that still have 100% Tomatometer scores include Seven Samurai, Singing in the Rain, The Terminator and the first two Toy Story movies.
