Rick and Morty Season 5 Explores Beth and Jerry's Carnal Relationship

Rick and Morty Season 5 will apparently feature a lot of Jerry and Beth Smith getting frisky with one another while Rick looks after their kids, Morty and Summer.

In an interview with Inverse, Rick and Morty cast members Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke and Spencer Grammer -- who voice Jerry, Beth and Summer respectively -- revealed that a lot of "sexual adventures" will happen in between the show's bizarre and twisted sci-fi exploits. "Season 5 for Jerry and Beth is mostly about their sexual relationship," Parnell teased before joking that "[i]t's kind of all the show explores."

Grammer also state that "there's more sex in Season 5" and professed an eagerness to see Rick and Morty cover this particular topic. "I think my parents' sex life should be really involved and experimental and open," she said. "There should be a dungeon, obviously -- oh no that's Rick's lair. Maybe somewhere else. The attic? Do we have an attic?" Grammer's attic comment was dismissed by Chalke, though she described what's to come as "a fun season for Beth and Jerry."

Beth and Jerry's dysfunctional marriage has been a reoccurring point of tension between them, Morty, Summer and Rick across the past four seasons of Rick and Morty. Though they divorced at the start of Season 3, Beth ultimately took Jerry back in that season's finale, much to Rick's chagrin. Season 5's trailers, however, revealed that the Smiths will partake in multiple adventures together rather than just Rick and Morty, such as piloting Voltron-inspired mechs against a giant mutant mantis and arming themselves with guns and laser whips to defend their home. In addition to Season 5, Adult Swim recently announced that a Rick and Morty spinoff series titled The Vindicators is currently in development.
