Spider-Man: How Miles Morales' MOM Stopped His Fight With Peter Parker

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25 by Saladin Ahmed, Carmen Carnero, David Curiel & VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

Miles Morales just entered his own clone saga, but before he had a chance to confront the new clones, he had to fight a friend. Miles Morales had to battle Spider-Man before the two could team up to find out what was going on.

Miles Morales was able to track down the clone thanks to Ganke figuring out where it would attack next. When he arrived, the clone was already gone, and the two scientists crouched on the floor feared he was the bad guy, returning to finish the job. That is when Spider-Man attacked, believing Miles was the imposter.

Miles tried to explain things, but Peter didn't want to listen. The scientists were still scared to death and said he tried to kill them, so the two Spider-Men kept their battle going until Miles finally turned invisible and landed a Venom Blast to the back of Peter's head. When Miles said they were wasting time and someone else could get hurt, Peter realized it sounded like Miles. Then Miles said the one thing that proved who he was. He said that he still had the "crappy birthday card" Peter bought him when he ruined Miles' desk. Miles said that his mom was still salty about it.

It was a funny moment that stopped the fight immediately. It might be easy to laugh and remember the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice fight when Superman mentioned his mom. However, in the case of Miles Morales and Peter Parker, the comment was actually based on a real moment that proved Spider-Man was fighting the wrong man. As soon as Miles said this, Spider-Man stopped and realized what was going on. He then asked Miles to tell his mother he was sorry before the two set out to find the clones and save Spider-Man's reputation.

Miles Morales mentioned that Peter Parker's Spider-Man broke his desk the last time Parker showed up in Brooklyn. This happened in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #10 by Saladin Ahmed, Javier Garron, David Curiel & VC's Cory Petit. Spider-Man arrived at Miles Morales' house with a birthday card, crashed into his room, and landed on his desk, shattering it. While it sounded like the desk broke in a battle, it was mostly just because Spider-Man was clumsy and wasn't using his brain when he showed up to see Miles. Since these were the only two people in the room when it happened, no one could have known but the real Miles Morales.

The "crappy birthday card" line was because there was the only one left at the Bodega when Spider-Man showed up, and it said "Happy birthday, Grandma." That Brooklyn trip for Spider-Man concerned attacks on scientists and stolen equipment. Interestingly, the attacks were by the man who created the last clones Miles fought: his 616 doppelganger, Ultimatum, and the Ultimate Green Goblin. This was the start of Miles' battle with Ultimatum, the first time he ever met his 616 self, and the first time he prepared to battle clones. Now, there are three new clones attacking scientists and stealing equipment, and this can't be a coincidence, especially with Miles throwing in the line about his desk and mom to get Spider-Man to stop fighting him and join his new clone saga.
