Star Wars: The Best Things Every Hero Did (In The Sequels) | CBR

The Star Wars movie series revitalized itself in the 2010s with the launch of the sequel trilogy, starring new and familiar faces in a new war 30 years after Return of the Jedi. By now, the Galactic Empire is just a memory, but the menacing First Order is determined to conquer the galaxy in its place, and the New Republic is practically defenseless. Enter the Resistance and its many heroes.

This fresh new trilogy wowed audiences with the brave exploits of heroes such as General Leia Solo, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the enigmatic Rey, and the ace pilot Poe Dameron, among others. But what were their moist heroic and daring feats in the trilogy? Their best acts were brave, memorable, and impactful to the story, or just simply thrilling and exciting to watch.

10 Rey, The Newest Jedi: She Defeated Palpatine For All Time

Rey thought she was just an anonymous scavenger, a nobody living on the dunes of Jakku. How wrong she was: Rey is the granddaughter of the terrifying Darth Sidious, and it is her destiny to confront the dark side of the Force and bring an end to the Sith Lords once and for all.

Rey performed many heroic deeds across the sequel trilogy, from saving Finn's life on Starkiller base to helping the Resistance escape Crait. But her finest moment was when she embodied the entire Jedi Order and took on Palpatine, finally destroying him for good. The light side has won.

9 Poe Dameron: He Led The Resistance To Victory Against Palpatine's Fleet

Poe Dameron, like Rey, performed many heroic deeds in this trilogy, from keeping Luke's map away from Kylo Ren to leading the Resistance to victory at Starkiller base. Later on, he made galactic history once again when he led the Resistance fleet into battle against the ultimate Star Destroyer armada.

It takes serious charisma, skills and daring to lead a rag-tag band of ships against such a mighty fleet, but Poe did it, and he kept his cool the entire time. With his leadership, the Resistance helped Rey put an end to Palpatine's plans in the Unknown Regions.

8 Finn: He Helped The Resistance Destroy Starkiller Base

Arguably, Finn played less and less of a role as the sequel trilogy went on, but at least he was a major player in The Force Awakens. Once known as FN-2187, this stormtrooper with a heart turned his back on the First Order, defied Captain Phasma, and helped the Resistance challenge the mighty First Order.

Finn risked his life to help rescue Rey from Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base, and he also provided vital intel that helped Poe and the others mount an effective assault on that great base. Without him, Starkiller Base would have won the day for the First Order.

7 General Leia Solo: She Helped Train Rey

Princess Leia Organa helped the Rebellion achieve victory against the Galactic Empire years ago, and now, General Leia is still fighting the good fight. She is a brave and noble hero who took up arms the moment the First Order arrived, even if the New Republic wouldn't help her.

Leia oversaw the Resistance's efforts against the First Order time and again, and later, she helped train Rey as a Jedi Knight after her brother Luke gave his life for the cause. When Leia finally perished, she left Rey deeply in her debt. Not just anyone can train the Jedi who will save the universe.

6 Luke Skywalker: He Gave All To Protect The Light

Luke Skywalker learned the ways of the Jedi from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda himself, and for a time, he was the sole Jedi Knight. He tried to train more, but when Ben Solo turned on him, he lost all faith in the Jedi way, and went into seclusion on Ahch-To.

However, Rey's conviction inspired Luke to give it another try, and he trained her thoroughly. Later, when the Resistance was cornered on Crait, Luke gave his very life to project himself on Crait and distract the First Order (and Kylo Ren) while the Resistance fled. Without that intervention, all hope would have been lost.

5 BB-8: He Safely Delivered The Map To Luke

R2-D2 was famous in the classic trilogy as the faithful robot sidekick with a thousand gadgets, and now, BB-8 is the R2-D2 for a new generation. He even played a similar role, being entrusted with vital intel that must not fall into the hands of the villains.

In particular, BB-8 bore the map to Luke Skywalker, a piece of intel that both Kylo Ren and the Resistance desperately needed to decide the fate of the galaxy. Despite all the danger, BB-8 carried out his mission faithfully, and never suffered a scratch in the process.

4 C-3PO: He Risked Everything & Deciphered The Sith Text

The protocol droid known as C-3PO is known for being pretentious and stubborn at times, even as far back as the prequel trilogy when he followed Anakin and Padme around, but he has a heart of gold to match his gold-colored outer shell. When C-3PO is truly needed, he will do anything to save the day.

At one point, Rey needed to decipher arcane Sith text on a dagger, but C-3PO couldn't easily handle that. So, he reluctantly agreed to be hooked up to a master hacker and decipher the text, risking every last digit of his programming in the process. He even got one last look at his friends before deciphering the text, just in case it wound up being goodbye.

3 Maz Kanata: She Gave Rey Luke's Lightsaber On Takodana

In The Force Awakens, Han Solo the rogue introduced Rey and Finn to an old friend of his: Maz Kanata, who is well-connected across the galaxy. At Maz's palace, Rey heard the call of Luke's lightsaber, and she wandered into the dungeons to touch it. She then saw terrifying visions.

Rey wanted nothing to do with that lightsaber any longer, but Maz insisted that this item was now Rey's, and that Rey would absolutely need it to fight back against evil. Maz was right, though it was Finn who first used it before Rey became its proper owner.

2 Han Solo: He Reminded Kylo That There Is Still Good In Him

Han Solo used to look out only for himself and his Wookiee friend Chewbacca, but the Rebellion inspired him to become a hero and to see the best in others. He eventually married Leia and had a son with her, naming that son after Ben Kenobi. Ben Solo, however, soon fell to the dark side.

On Starkiller Base, Han was ready to save the day, and he was also ready to save Kylo Ren from himself. Ultimately, Han lost his life, but his heartfelt words and paternal touch helped ignite the spark of change in Kylo, even if that redemption came long after Han's death. What else is a doting father to do?

1 Admiral Holdo: She Gave The Resistance One Last Shot At Survival

Admiral Holdo didn't survive The Last Jedi, but she made her last actions count for a lot. Holdo and her friend, General Leia, took serious risks and made hard decisions as the desperate Resistance fleet tried to escape Admiral Hux's pursuing flotilla. Time was running out, so Holdo made her final decision as a commander.

Holdo made sure that the Resistance's members boarded a series of small transports, then sent them to Crait to survive another day. Holdo stayed behind on the fleet all alone, and rammed her ship right into Hux's command vessel, crippling it. Without Holdo's sacrifice, the Resistance would have been lost.
