Toei Animation has released a new trailer for its upcoming Saudi Arabian-Japanese anime film The Journey.
Co-produced by Japanese anime studio Toei Animation and Saudi-Arabian studio Manga Productions, The Journey is an upcoming anime film about a potter named Aws who must fight to protect his homeland and family from invaders, while atoning for the misdeeds of his past. The trailer teases multiple scenes of Aws fighting against massive armies of soldiers and even elephants, giving viewers a taste of the kind of epic scale The Journey offers. The film was originally scheduled to premiere at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, but was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Now, The Journey will release on June 25.

The Journey is directed by Koubun Shizuno, an experienced anime director with credits in the lengthy Detective Conan series, Knights of Sidonia and anime movie Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters under his belt. The script is written by Inazuma Eleven and Battle Spirits screenwriter Atsushiro Tomioka, and the film's score is composed by Casshern Sins and Inuyasha's Kaoru Wada.
The Japanese cast includes well-known voice actors Toru Furuya (Sailor Moon, Saint Seiya), Kotono Mitsuishi (Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion), Hiroshi Kamiya (Angel Beats, Bakemonogatari, Attack on Titan), Yuichi Nakamura (Clannad, Fairy Tail, Jujutsu Kaisen), Kazuya Nakai (Fire Force, Gintama, One Piece) and Takaya Kuroda (Durarara!!, Fairy Tail).
