10 DC Characters Batman Has Never Beat In A Fight | CBR

DC Comics has more than it's fair share of hand-to-hand combat specialists, with Batman ranking among their upper echelons. Even though he doesn't have any superpowers to speak of, he has honed his body into an absolutely devastating fighting machine. That's something many of DC's heroes and villains have learned first hand as Batman handed them their butts.

At the same time, there are more than a few characters who Batman has never defeated. For any number of reasons, Batman cannot seem to get one over on them on his own, which is a big reason why he works with teams surprisingly frequently for a loner.

10 General Zod Should Never Be Underestimated

Superman is generally regarded as one of the top heroes in DC Comics. His Kryptonian biology combined with Earth's yellow sun has given him a fantastic array of powers that he, fortunately, uses for the protection and betterment of his adopted homeworld.

General Zod, on the other hand, has basically the same superpowers with a very different moral code and a military mind. Unfortunately for Batman, planning to take down Superman is one thing but he might just end up kneeling before Zod.

9 Got Stomped By Giganta

A lot of the time, supervillain names end up being exceedingly on the nose. Captain Cold and Heat Wave would really throw a wrench into things if they kept the same gear but traded names. Giganta also has the right name for her fantastic abilities.

As she grows to superhuman sizes, her strength and invulnerability also increase, enough so that she's given Wonder Woman problems. The only way Batman beats her on his own is if he pulls a Luke Skywalker from the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back and ties her legs up as she walks.

8 Beaten By Red Hood

Jason Todd has had one of the roughest rides of any DC hero. He was recruited by Batman after trying to steal the hubcaps off of the Batmobile. Todd became the new Robin until Joker bashed his skull in with a crowbar. Then, he was resurrected as part of another villain's game.

Under the name Red Hood, Todd has proven to be one of the most aggressive members of Batman's extended costume-clad family. But while they have rarely squared off, Red Hood has proven to be more than Batman can handle. That being said, the Caped Crusader might be holding back a bit.

7 Owned By Trigon

Even suggesting that Batman could take Trigon on his own is absurd to say the least. This is one of the most powerful beings in DC Comics, a demonic entity who has enslaved countless worlds in his long existence.

Trigon has taken on the combined might of teams like the Teen Titans and the Justice League, and they can barely handle the guy. Fortunately, Batman is smart enough to not wander into this war by himself.

6 Ultraman Tears Him Apart

A variety of different comics, both inside the DC Universe and outside of it, have speculated what it would be like if the Justice League went rogue. But the best look fans have gotten is the Crime Syndicate of America based out of Earth 3.

This specific team is made up of evil versions of the Justice League and led by Ultraman. This really isn't a fair fight for Batman. On his own, it's hard to imagine him having what it takes to bring down an evil Superman. He doesn't win this fight.

5 Bronze Tiger Has His Number

As a general rule, Batman is regarded as one of the top hand-to-hand combatants in the entirety of DC Comics. He has been trained by the best and beaten many of them. Batman has honed his body into a finely tuned weapon, which is often the only thing keeping him alive in the field.

That doesn't mean he's won every fight over the years. Bronze Tiger is still a class above Batman and spent quite a bit of his career brainwashed into being a villain. He is not a fighter Batman has been able to defeat, at least by himself.

4 Rick Flag Breaks Even With Him

Over the years, Rick Flag has made a name for himself as a decorated soldier and the field leader of the Suicide Squad. It's important to keep in mind that much of his backstory is dubious at best thanks to the mental manipulations of General Eiling.

While Batman and Rick Flag haven't squared off frequently, it's been pretty epic when they have. But the crazy part about this one is that neither of them have ever really won their fights. They are actually quite equally matched

3 Never Defeated Kobra One-On-One

Several people have taken the name and mantle of Kobra over the years. But for the most part, Kobra is the leader of a cult who uses his genius to vex the various heroes of the DC Universe. Plus, he's honestly a jerk about it.

While the various superhero teams in DC have faced off against Kobra and his cult on multiple occasions, Batman has yet to face Kobra one-on-one. But it seems like Batman should be able to beat him. He's not known to be a great fighter.  No one cheats like Kobra, though, so anything is possible.

2 The Whole Justice League Has Problems With Prometheus

Making a big debut is a huge part of any character, whether that individual is a hero or a villain. Prometheus took that to new levels when he went toe-to-toe with the Justice League on day one and almost had them dead to rights.

This included beating Batman in a fight. The Dark Knight was humbled by the experience and learned a lot from it. While Batman likes to believe that he will never be caught off guard by Prometheus again, he has yet to win a legit rematch.

1 Lady Shiva Is The Best Of The Best

Calling Lady Shiva a villain is an oversimplification of who she is. Shiva stands with whoever she sees fit to accomplish her goals, which are usually only known to her. Shiva's unmatched skills in hand-to-hand combat have made her possibly the most feared warrior in DC.

Batman has never defeated her, though there's no shame in that. Anyone who has a win over Lady Shiva had to do so with the help of an entire team or through rather dubious methods.
