Attack On Titan: The Ackermans' 10 Best Fights, Ranked | CBR

The Ackermans were a rare bloodline immune to the will of the Founding Titan and simultaneously duty-bound to safeguard its current user. Capable of accessing mysterious bursts of strength, they were among the most formidable non-titan characters in Attack on Titan.

Levi, Mikasa, and Kenny have all had engaging fights that spoke well of their skills and the hardships they have endured. By identifying their best matches of the entire series, we can better appreciate how far experience and intelligence goes in a world of giants and monsters.

10 Kenny's Run-In With Annie Evinced Her Identity

When Kenny encountered Annie Leonhart in a dark alley, he suspected she might be related to the Reiss family (due to her resemblance to Historia) and approached her about it. This resulted in a tense conversation, one that ended when the Marleyan spy finally attacked him.

Kenny was mindful enough to release her before her kick connected and obliterated the bricks behind him. Leonhart was able to abscond into the night since he had broken his grip in order to dodge her attack.

9 Mikasa & The Scouts Prevented The Escape Of Ymir & Reiner

Just as it seemed that Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir would be able to capture the Founding Titan and complete their mission as Warriors, the Scouts intervened and liberated Eren. Mikasa unleashed dozens of attacks against Reiner's armored body, few of which were successful given that she had yet to discover Thunder Spears.

She was more successful against Ymir and nearly able to rip apart the nape of her neck. Historia scarcely managed to thrust herself in the way and beg for her paramour's life – only for Mikasa to insist that the future queen needed to take a side.

8 Erwin & Miche Teamed Up Against Levi

Erwin and Miche first encountered Levi's group after it was discovered that he was using ODM gear – and with remarkable proficiency, given that he'd never been formally trained. Erwin chased the criminal through Paradis' underbelly, luring him toward Miche so that he could take him by surprise.

Once it was revealed that Levi's comrades had already been captured, he relented and subjected himself to Erwin's mercy. It was beginning of his career as a captain and one of the strongest soldiers to ever emerge from the island's walls.

7 Levi & Mikasa Trapped Annie Together

After Eren had been captured by Annie, Levi and Mikasa understood the necessity of liberating him. Working together, they lured the giant into Hange's wire trap, immobilizing her and causing immeasurable damage that hardening couldn't conveniently fix.

Although Annie was able to escape by ordering nearby pure titans to devour her body, Armin had a strong premonition as to the nature of her true identity. By the time Mikasa encountered the Female Titan again from within the walls of Paradis, she would ensure her adversary could not escape as easily.

6 Mikasa Provided A Distraction Against Lara Tybur

The War Hammer Titan proved a more formidable threat than anything Eren had faced so far (aside from the Colossal). Not only was she able to create gigantic shapes out of white, viscous fluid, her weapons were potent enough to obliterate Eren's hardened arms.

Just as Eren's odds seemed bleak, Mikasa rushed to his assistance and smothered their enemy in Thunder Spears. She provided the distraction he needed to reassess the situation, find the tether connecting Tybur to her giant, and sever it.

5 Kenny's Second Fight With Levi Was Intense & Cinematic

The second battle between Kenny and Levi was climatic and satisfying. It was the first time that two Ackermans fought one another with nothing held back and excellently encapsulated how well both men surpassed their peers.

Ultimately, Levi was able to close the distance between them and tilt his blade so that it slashed through his uncle's stomach. While Kenny was able to escape and undo Eren's bindings, the wounds he had already suffered were too grievous for him to survive. He passed away in a forest later that day.

4 Mikasa Used Thunder Spears For The First Time To Bring Down Reiner

Connie, Jean, and Mikasa were delegated to defeat Reiner during the second battle for Shiganshina. The plan was simple; two Thunder Spears would force Braun's jaw to drop, and the third would detonate inside him for a brutal finish.

Although one of the initially planned explosives missed, Hange lent their assistance to the fight and gave Mikasa the window she needed to defeat the traitor. Unfortunately, Pieck rescued him before he could be sacrificed to restore Erwin.

3 Levi Overcame Tremendous Odds To Defeat Zeke In Their Third Round

Having lost twice to Levi before, Zeke approached his third encounter with caution and strategy. He convinced Levi's regiment to drink spinal fluid-laced wine and converted them into pure titans to cover his escape.

However, Zeke did not anticipate that the captain was willing and able to cut down dozens of his former comrades in seconds before catching up with him. Once he had, nothing Zeke threw at him could stanch Levi's desire for vengeance or block the Thunder Spear that would find the Beast Titan's neck.

2 Levi's First Encounter With Kenny Used Terrain Brilliantly

When the Scouts were first branded as traitors, Kenny led an anti-ODM squad to deal with Levi immediately. Outnumbered and outgunned, Levi had the foresight to retreat, since remaining would spell certain death.

He used his terrain to procure an escape, tilting a beer bottle to glimpse Kenny's location from inside a saloon and using the shotgun under the counter to stave him off. Ultimately, the villain would have nothing to show for his ambush – and his nephew would come better prepared for their next encounter in Rod Reiss' bunker.

1 Levi's First Fight Against Zeke Illustrated What He Was Truly Capable Of

Erwin and almost all of his comrades gave their lives so that Levi could close the distance between himself and the Beast Titan, using his ODM gear to grapple onto the primate's large, burly form. After they made contact, Levi's fury was brief but relentless.

Though Zeke had the foresight to protect his nape, Levi instead unleashed a flurry of blows against his back, eyes, and fingers. He caused such utter devastation to Zeke's body that he was forced to revert to his human form and was immediately put at the scout's mercy.
