Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Is Still Very, Very Far Away | CBR

Fans should not expect to see publisher Bethesda Softworks' untitled Indiana Jones video game anytime soon. Bethesda's SVP of Global Marketing & Comms Pete Hines revealed that the upcoming action-adventure game is in the early stages of development.

Hines spoke with Gamespot's Tamoor Hussain following Xbox & Bethesda's E3 presentation. Hussain asked about the status of MachineGames, developer of the Wolfenstein franchise, and what upcoming projects the developer was working on. "They're working on the Indiana Jones game that we just talked about earlier this year," Hines confirmed. "And obviously, we literally just announced that deal, so you can make your own guesses at how far along that game is. They’re in the very, very, very early stages of working on the Indiana Jones game."

Concerning any upcoming Wolfenstein games, Hines did not give any updates. "Where we are for Wolfenstein or, quite honestly, any other franchise that we don’t have announced plans on, we'll have to wait until we get to the point of wanting to talk about it," Hines shared. "But you can put me at the head of the list of people who want to see another Wolfenstein game, so no worries there." Many fans anticipated a potential E3 announcement of the long-awaited Wolfenstein III.

Bethesda's Indiana Jones game was announced at the beginning of the year via the publisher's Twitter. The announcement was shared alongside a short cinematic teaser of the untitled game, which featured Indy's iconic fedora and whip. Since the initial teaser, no official announcements have been made regarding the project.

While Xbox's presentation did not feature the Indiana Jones game, Bethesda played a large role in the conference by presenting the first and last games of the show following its acquisition by Microsoft earlier this year. The conference began with Starfield, Bethesda's upcoming sci-fi Xbox and PC exclusive, which director Todd Howard described appropriately as "NASA meets Indiana Jones meets The League of Extraordinary Gentleman." Bethesda ended the showcase with a first look at Redfall, an open-world co-op first-person shooter, developed by Arkane Studios, the developers behind critically acclaimed titles like Prey and Dishonored.

Developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, the untitled Indiana Jones game currently has no release date.
