How Batman Would've Factored Into the Nightwing Movie, According to Chris McKay

Nightwing director Chris McKay recently revealed how Batman would have factored into Dick Grayson's planned film.

"There was still some stuff that was needed to be determined of what that was going to look like," McKay said in an interview with The Bear Cave, before saying that the Dark Knight would not have had much influence on the movie's plot.

He added that the movie "was like you were picking up a Nightwing comic. You're not guaranteed Batman was going to show up, but he could show up and other people could show up, but again you're dealing with Nightwing and that's what I like about it."

Warner Bros. reshuffled its DC Extended Universe film slate, which caused any production on the Nightwing film to be delayed. McKay recently stated his hopes that Nightwing does get made, calling it a "big, action-packed, emotional movie." McKay also said that the film may not be similar to his upcoming film The Tomorrow War in terms of budget, but "from a scope and scale standpoint, as far as the kind of action and the kind of heart, that's what Nightwing is going to be all about."

In the meantime, McKay is currently attached to direct and produce the Dracula-adjacent horror/comedy movie Renfield, which is based on a pitch from Invincible and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
