Margot Robbie Compares Post-Snyder DCEU to Comic Book Continuity Shifts

The Suicide Squad star and Harley Quinn actor Margot Robbie recently compared the post-Zack Snyder DC Extended Universe to shifts in comic book continuity.

While speaking to Toronto Sun, Robbie revealed that she did not find it odd for the DCEU to feature a reboot film. "Oftentimes, you'll be reading a comic and they leave off at one place and you pick up the next (issue) and they pick up with totally different characters and that person who just died is suddenly there and you just go with it," Robbie joked. "I swapped between The New 52 (a 2011 revamp of DC’s titles) and the old comics, and none of that stops me from enjoying the stories."

Of course, reboots like The New 52 are nothing new in the pages of DC Comics. The company has rebooted its universe multiple times over the years, with the changes occurring in said reboots being accepted by fans as part of the event.

It should be noted, however, that Robbie's The Suicide Squad co-star John Cena, who plays Peacemaker in the film and will reprise the role for the character's HBO Max spinoff series, recently stated that the movie is neither a sequel nor a reboot to 2016's Suicide Squad.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Michael Rooker as Savant, Flula Borg as Javelin, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Mayling NG as Mongal, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, Alice Braga as Solsoria, Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, John Cena as Peacemaker and Steve Agee, Taika Waititi and Storm Reid. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max Aug. 6.
