My Hero Academia: 10 Best Strategies Of The Series | CBR

My Hero Academia's world is packed with strong characters, but it's not enough to merely have a powerful Quirk. A smart hero or villain will think ahead, use their enemies' powers against them, or combo with their teammates to create all-new attacks and take the enemy by surprise. The students at U.A. understand this well.

It is true that students like Shoto Todoroki and Katsuki Bakugo have immense firepower, but fighting crime is also a mind game, and a clever and resourceful team will prevail. This has been proven time and again, and the most creative tactics lead to the most thrilling victories of the entire franchise. Which strategies are too tough to beat?

10 When Ochaco Uraraka Tricked Bakugo Into Making Convenient Rubble

Ochaco Uraraka, the zero-gravity girl, knew that the odds were against her in a duel against Katsuki Bakugo during the U.A. sports festival tournament. So, she kept low to the ground while maneuvering, luring Bakugo into making low attacks that blasted the arena into rubble.

Ochaco then touched the rubble pieces, floating them high into the air where Bakugo didn't see them. Finally, at her command, Ochaco released them all, and they rained down in a meteor storm. If it weren't for Bakugo's serious firepower, he would have been doomed.

9 When Shoto & Inasa Combined Their Quirks Against Gang Orca

For a time, the wind-using Inasa Yoarashi and Shoto were at each other's throats, and this held them back when the powerful pro hero Gang Orca confronted them during the Provisional Hero License Exam. At the last minute, Shoto and Inasa combined their talents to make an all-new attack.

Inasa's fierce winds became blistering, arid gales when Shoto added his fire, and this intense attack dried out the aquatic Gang Orca and put him on the defensive. In a real combat scenario, he might have been outright defeated, just from two Quirks working in tandem.

8 When Momo & Shoto Trapped Shota Aizawa

Though some heroes have extra skills like martial arts or weapons, most heroes rely on their Quirks, and Momo and Shoto are no exception. When they went up against the Quirk-erasing Shota Aizawa in a test battle, they had little headway at first, but after Shoto gave Momo a sincere pep talk, they turned things around in a hurry.

Momo escaped Aizawa's gaze and made a working catapult, white sheets, dummies, and even a replica of Aizawa's capture gear, and used everything to lure Aizawa out then trap him with the gear. Shoto used his flames to activate the memory metal inside, and Aizawa was tightly bound from head to toe.

7 When Pony Tsunotori Ran Out The Clock Against Mezo Shoji

The joint training arc between Classes 1-A and 1-B involved some brilliant team-based strategies, and Class 1-B student Pony Tsunotori thought outside the box when she was against the wall. Every team thus far was risking it all to win, but Pony had another idea: to force a draw.

No one else thought of this, and Pony had the means to pull it off. She used her floating horns to get herself and two unconscious captives high into the air, where her opponent, the six-armed Mezo Shoji, couldn't reach her. Pony couldn't win the match, but she could avoid losing, making the most of her dire situation.

6 When Class 1-A Lured In Their Enemies & Rallied On Yuga Aoyama

During the provisional hero license exam, the laser-toting Yuga Aoyama was convinced that he was dead weight, so he opted to sacrifice himself with an eye-catching laser show, luring all of U.A.'s rivals to his location to buy his classmates time to reach their objective. His plan worked even better than expected.

Yuga's laser show wasn't in vain. Class 1-A's students immediately made use of it, ambushing their distracted enemies over and over with all of their Quirks, especially Minoru Mineta's sticky spheres and Koji Koda's swarm of pigeons. Thanks to Yuga's move, all of Class 1-A passed this phase of the exam.

5 When Momo Faced Itsuka Kendo & Prepared For Defeat

Momo Yaoyorozu's team lost to that of Itsuka Kendo, the big-fist hero, but it was a close one. Momo faced Itsuka alone, despite being a dedicated support hero, and she had everything figured out ahead of time. Before getting knocked out, Momo made an entire cannon and used it to launch a supply package to her teammate, Fumikage Tokoyami, to help him take on the rest of the Class 1-B team.

Then, Momo created many long cords to tightly wrap herself up with Itsuka and the cannon, meaning Itsuka could only slowly drag herself around with all that weight. Itsuka's team did win, but Itsuka admitted that in most regards, she personally lost to Momo.

4 When Saiko Intelli Set A Freezing Trap For Momo's & Tsuyu's Team

During the provisional hero license exam, many rival students were determined to single out and crush Class 1-A, and that included the anime-only student, the brilliant Saiko Intelli. Saiko set her trap in a large office building and waited for Momo Yaoyorozu's team to arrive. Then Saiko made her move.

All the windows' shutters closed on that floor, and the doors were sealed. Then, cold air was piped in, and that greatly weakened the frog-like Tsuyu Asui. Saiko's entire squad waited outside the door, preparing to burst in and finish off Momo's team. And it very nearly worked.

3 When Momo Turned The Tables On Saiko Intelli

Momo's brilliant mind struck again, and she would not allow Saiko to outmaneuver her and her team. Momo had limited time, so she used most of what remained of her strength to make a massive speaker, then had her teammate, Kyoka Jiro, plug her Quirk into it and release powerful sound waves to knock out Saiko's team.

Once Saiko broke in to attack, Momo created handcuffs to link the herself to Saiko, and Tsuyu and Mezo helped take Saiko down for good. Saiko graciously admitted that Momo had indeed outwitted her.

2 When Tsuyu & Ochaco Developed Their Quirk Combo

Tsuyu and Ochaco developed this combo during the Forest Training Camp, and the they kept using it when they interned with the pro hero Ryukyu, along with Nejire Hado of the Big Three. This combo is simple, but highly effective.

Ochaco will touch something large and heavy to make it weightless, then Tsuyu will seize it with her tongue and fling it high into the air. Once Ochaco makes the item heavy again, it will crash down on the intended target. Tsuyu can even ride aboard the weightless item to aim it better.

1 When Shinso Used His Voice Modulator Against Class 1-B's Team

Hitoshi Shinso can control people with his Brainwashing Quirk so long as the target verbally responds to him. He fought alongside Class 1-A's first team quite effectively with his new support item: a voice modulator that can make him imitate other people's voices during the chaos of battle.

Shinso did this to brainwash the beastly Jurota Shishida, then did it again to Ibara Shiozaki to take her and her powerful vines out of the battle. Shinso then acted as a lure to bring Jurota close, and Tsuyu knocked Jurota out with a pipe to the head.
