My Hero Academia: 10 Times Bakugo Went Too Far | CBR

Katsuki Bakugo, also known by his hero name, Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, is the arrogant, ill-mannered, and aggressive deuteragonist of My Hero Academia. He's a natural-born genius, blessed with an incredibly powerful Quirk, Explosion, and is currently a student at U.A High School in Class 1-A.

Surprisingly, Bakugo has proved many times that he has a softer side beneath his furious exterior, and possesses unexpected skills such as cooking and playing drums. But because of his abrasive personality, Bakugo is known by the masses as the angry individual who often goes too far because of his determination to be the number one hero.

10 The Time He Went Overboard Against Uraraka At The Sports Festival

Bakugo was placed against Ochaco Uraraka during the tournament matchups at the U.A. Sports Festival. Besides not recognizing Uraraka's name on the bracket, Bakugo definitely didn't hold back from using his Quirk, which is considerably more powerful than Uraraka's, during the match.

As she tried to keep up with his strength and devise a clever strategy by using floating debris to take Bakugo down, he still managed to gain the upper hand by destroying her plan in one fell swoop. Despite trying to continue, she eventually exhausted herself and collapsed. On the plus side, many fans see this as Bakugo respecting Uraraka for her strength and not going easy on her just because she's a girl.

9 The Time He Taunted Izuku And Told Him To Give Up His Dream

During Bakugo and Izuku's time at Aldera Junior High, their teacher announced that Izuku would be applying to U.A High despite being Quirkless. Outraged by this revelation, Bakugo berated Izuku, used his Quirk to blow up his desk, and told him that he would never amount to anything. He then took Izuku's hero notebook, burned it, and threw it out of the window into a fish pond.

8 The Time He Was Rude To His Mother

After Bakugo was rescued from the League of Villains, U.A. High decided to move all students onsite in order to better protect them from outside threats.

As Shota Aizawa and All Might travelled to each student's household to ask for their parent's permission, their experience with the Bakugo family was certainly a memorable one. Bakugo's mother may be similarly rude, but yelling "Don't hit me, old lady! I'll kill you!" at the woman who conceived him isn't Bakugo's greatest show of etiquette, even by his standards.

7 The Time He Fought Too Seriously Against Izuku During The Battle Trial Arc

At this point in My Hero Academia, Bakugo was still wondering about Izuku's Quirk and strongly believed that he intentionally hid his powers from him the entire time. Because of this, Bakugo separated from his group and attempted to ambush the opposing team, starting with Izuku and Uraraka.

As Izuku counters Bakugo's attacks and declares that he isn't the same person anymore, Bakugo furiously launches a series of violent attacks and disregards his teammate's attempts to communicate with him.

6 All The Times He Yells At Those In Need

Being the crude individual that he is, it's rare that Bakugo is able to hold a conversation with someone without yelling or insulting them. Despite being a formidable hero in terms of his strength, his bad attitude means his people skills are terrible. Rather than comforting those who need rescuing, he mostly chooses to yell at them instead, even if they're children.

5 The Time He Insulted Everyone During His Speech At The Sports Festival

Much to everyone's surprise, Bakugo was chosen to represent the students from Class 1-A at the Sports Festival, and while the rest of his classmates anxiously waited to see what obscenities he would come out with, their worst fears were confirmed.

After starting off his speech by saying, "I pledge that I'll be number one," the rest of the participants booed and his classmates were mortified. Bakugo then proceeded to finish off his speech with, "At least become a nice bouncy step for me to jump off of."

4 The Time He Failed To Accept His Win At The Sports Festival

The highly anticipated fight between Bakugo and Shoto during the Sports Festival ended in a way that left Bakugo immensely unsatisfied. While the fight featured impressive techniques from both sides, Bakugo knew that Shoto was holding back, and angrily told him to fight seriously.

Once Shoto ignited his flames, Bakugo unleashed a Super Move, Howitzer Impact, and blasted the stadium with an enormous explosion. Shoto was sent flying, and once the dust settled, it became clear that he avoided actually emitting his flames. Bakugo refused to accept his victory and was forced onto the podium in restraints as a result.

3 All The Times He's A Terrible Team Player

During any kind of hero training that involves teamwork, Bakugo makes it abundantly clear that he likes to work solo, and usually wanders off alone or calls his fellow teammates his underlings. Despite his unsociable ways, Bakugo has proved on multiple occasions that he's surprisingly good at strategizing in team situations – he's just inherently terrible at getting along with others.

2 The Time He Showed Resentment Towards Izuku For Saving Him From The Sludge Villain

At the very beginning of the series, Bakugo was caught by the Sludge Villain. While he did well to resist the villain's attempts to take over his body, he was moments away from reaching his limit until Izuku intervened.

Bakugo hated the fact that he was saved by Izuku and could never truly accept it. So rather than saying thank you, he aggressively screamed at him for getting involved.

1 The Time He Forced Izuku To Fight Him

After failing to receive his Provisional Hero License, Bakugo demanded that Izuku meet him to discuss his Quirk. Although Izuku was reluctant to meet him after curfew hours, he agreed.

Bakugo took Izuku to Ground Beta, where he began to open up about his guilt for ending All Might. Already filled with emotions, Bakugo demanded they fight immediately to prove who's stronger, which led to an explosive battle between them. Once Bakugo successfully pinned Izuku down, All Might arrived and broke them up.
