Netflix has revealed footage for the upcoming The Cuphead Show alongside confirmation that Wayne Brady will play antagonist King Dice.
Announced as a part of Netflix Geeked Week, The Cupboard Show will serve as an animated adaption of the hit video game released in 2017. The footage highlights King Dice singing on stage before inviting members of the audience to step up and "roll the dice." As King Dice performs, his song is broadcast to a variety of characters fans of Cuphead will no doubt recognize. Most notable is Porkrind, a merchant in the Cuphead game that sells the player a variety of power-ups and abilities.
Alongside the new footage, Netflix confirmed that King Dice is voiced by Wayne Brady. The character's role in the series has yet to be confirmed; King Dice serves as a late-game boss in the Cuphead game. It's unclear whether he will act as the main antagonist for The Cuphead Show or if The Devil will fill that role, as he did in the game.
"King Dice here! Now some may say that my methods are quite shady because I'm voiced by the one and only Wayne Brady," teased Brady during the Netflix Geeked event.
The Cuphead Show is an adaption of the tough-as-nails platformer Cuphead, which released in 2017. The show was created by Chad and Jared Moldenhauer for Netflix and has been developed alongside Studio MDHR, the developer of the original game. The series began production in 2019.
The Cuphead Show is expected to launch in 2021 and stars Tru Valentino, Frank Todaro, Wayne Brady, Grey Griffin and Luke Millington-Drake. The Cuphead video game is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
