Secret Invasion: Why Emilia Clarke Joined the MCU | CBR

Secret Invasion's Emilia Clarke revealed why she wanted to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I just think what they're doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it," Clarke said to ComicBook.com. "I feel like they're like the Apple of this world. To be part of that family feels like, 'Oh my god, I'm in the cool kid crowd. That's so cool.'"

"Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it," Clarke continued. "I just think that everyone's heart and heads are in the right place with this one."

Drawing its name from a comic book storyline that ran from 2008-2009, Secret Invasion is reportedly set to begin principal photography in the fall. Though it is expected to draw from the plotline of its source material, which concerned an invasion from the shapeshifting Skrulls that have been posing as humans, most other details on the program remain unknown.

Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Christopher McDonald. Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim will serve as directors. The series, which will air on Disney+, has yet to receive a premiere date.
