Sims 4: 10 Funniest Deaths In The Game | CBR

Generally, if a Sim is being monitored by the player, they will likely not do something stupid enough to get themselves killed. Oh, but how they try. The game could be renamed to something like The Eternal Struggle To Keep Simulated People From Killing Themselves and it would really get the point across just fine. However, Sims 4 is a lot easier to say.

Whether there is a Sim that is just driving the player crazy with all of their shenanigans, or they were just left to their own devices long enough, chances are a Sim will find the most creative ways to die. Besides, who actually wants to watch their beloved Sims die a peaceful, normal death of old age? Where is the fun in that?

10 Too Emotional To Live

There are plenty of emotions in the game, all of which really need catered to for a well-rounded, happy Sim. However, too much of anything is always a bad thing. Forcing a Sim to be too happy, sad, angry, or embarrassed will inevitably cause them to kick the bucket.

It's generally the best way to kill off a Sim solely out of spite. Lock them in a small area and force trigger after trigger onto them until they finally can't go on. Some of them are actually kind of upsetting, but sometimes having them die of hysteria from laughing so hard or seeing who cracks first with only one toilet in the middle of the room is just funny. That, or having a Neat Sim unable to clean up something filthy long enough. Whatever works.

9 The Staple Cow Plant

All right, so as annoying as the plant is, it makes for some really amusing death sequences. The plant will try to tempt a Sim with cake to convince them to come close enough it can eat them. As ridiculous as it sounds, it also makes a lot of sense. Everyone knows at least one person who this trap would work on.

At least when it is eating a Sim, another one can come over and get milk out of it. Which, is a weird sort of thing, but hey. Maybe they are a femme fatale who uses their magical Cow Plant to dispose of their rich husbands to collect life insurance.

8 Flower Language Speaks Volumes

There have been meanings in flowers for ages. Most cultures have their own flower language, where one flower means friendship, or love, or condolences. Clearly, Sims 4 also has their own with the inclusion of a flower that can kill.

With a high enough Floral Arrangement skill, a bouquet can be made that includes Death Flowers. If an Elder Sim smells this arrangement, they will die. Good for a Sim who is particularly vengeful and has it out for their older relatives.

7 Trying To Save Space

Murphey beds are awesome, but in Sims 4 they are tiny, space-saving death traps. If they are left unattended they can break, just like most things in the game. If this happens, they are likely to cause some issues resulting in a Sim's death.

It's easy, too. Just ignore it when it needs to be maintained, or have a Sim who is really bad at fixing things try their hand at it. Then keep them around until it collapses.

6 Overload The Spellcaster

Magic is fun, they said. What can go wrong? Well apparently, if a Sim gets carried away with their spellcasting, they will inevitably overload and die from it. Any familiars have to be far enough away though or they will delay the process.

They have such an interesting— or startling, if the player wasn't expecting it— animation for when they basically explode due to an influx of magical energy. It's a concept that should really make its way into more games.

5 Sticking Fruit Into A Rocket

Rockets can cause plenty of deaths within the game, from trying to build one in the back yard to racing them with another Sim. For some reason, there is also the ability to stick fruit into a rocket before letting a Sim attempt to fly the thing, astronaut or not. Obviously, this almost always ends badly for the Sim, but the fact it can happen at all is hilarious.

The best way to do this is to let a Sim go to the GeekCon in the City Living expansion, stuff fruit into the exhaust of the rocket there, and have them try to take off. The rocket will explode and all the silly little Sims at the con will panic.

4 Umbrellas In A Thunderstorm

Thunderstorms are introduced in the Seasons expansion, along with different weather and temperature effects. Going outside unprepared can lead to some interesting deaths in and of themselves, but so can being outside during a thunderstorm.

Logic dictates that in order to be prepared for rain and storms, that one should carry an umbrella. Well apparently the developers thought it would be a fun way to attract lightning to them. If a Sim is struck by lightning, they die. Understandable, as most people in the real world die when hit by lightning too.

3 College Is Too Much For Anyone

Use the Research Machine too much in the Discover University and the Sim will literally work themselves to death. They can literally study so hard that they can't take it anymore and will curl up on the floor and die right there, only for another Sim to take their place.

College is cruel and vicious like that, so it is a fun little coping mechanism for someone who feels like school is— or was— too much. Players can take out their aggression on the institution in a safe, kind of funny way.

2 Too Hot To Handle

Send a Sim to the spa and then block the doorway. This will make it so that they can't get out, and will eventually overheat. Their little reactions as they desperately try to figure out how to get out of their hot box is always amusing.

Also with the inclusion of Seasons, sending a Sim outside in inappropriate clothing when it is too hot out will cause similar effects if they cannot get anywhere to cool down. That one is slightly more difficult to achieve, but makes it all the more rewarding when it works.

1 Hamsters Are Only Cute If They Want To Be

So with the inclusion of the My First Pet Stuff, small animals were added to the game. If left alone long enough and treated poorly enough, eventually one of them can bite the Sim. If that happens, the Sim will almost certainly contract their universe's version of Rabies known as Rabid Rodent Fever.

That just means that finally the little critters can fight back to poor living conditions and maybe teach someone to make sure they take care of their animals. It makes for a really funny sequence though, watching the Sim fall apart after their actions. Very satisfying.
