The Rock Confirms Black Adam Wraps Filming Next Month | CBR

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been keeping fans updated on the status of Black Adam as well as his meal preps for his training, and he's just confirmed that the end is almost in sight.

On his Instagram, the actor shared a photo of his Saturday night post-leg workout meal and how much longer it will be until shooting finishes. Johnson wrote, "All my 6 meals per day are strictly measured out--including water and sodium--as we go into our final three weeks of production for the filming of BLACK ADAM."

This will mark the end of production for the first Black Adam movie, but the movie's producer, Dany Garcia, intends on doing many more movies in the future. This has been a long-term project for Johnson. The idea of playing Black Adam arose back in 2007 and it was made official that he'd take on the titular role in 2014.

As of yet, the overall plan for Black Adam is uncertain, though it has been reported that it is sizeable. The character has often been viewed in relation to Shazam and there has been speculation amongst fans about when the two titans will come to blows on the big screen. It should be noted that Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg confirmed that Black Adam won't make an appearance in the Shazam! sequel.

Though Warner Bros. has kept details concerning the upcoming film close, DC Fandome in 2020 revealed several things for Black Adam, including concept art and an official teaser featuring an origin story narrated by Johnson himself. The teaser featured Black Adam's early life as a slave in Kahndaq and showcased how he then became the champion of his people by using his godly powers to free them, suggesting that the film will adhere to the source material.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Pierce Brosnan, Marwan Kenzari, Sarah Shahi, James Cusati-Moyer and Bodhi Sabongui. The film arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
