Critical Role and Darrington Press announced Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn, a revised edition of the sourcebook based on the show's fictional continent.
This updated version of the sourcebook contains a variety of updated information on the world of Tal'Dorei, including insight into locations, people, creatures and an expanded character creation system. Fans of Critical Role will find a host of new information on the setting first seen in Vox Machina, Critical Role's very first campaign.
Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn features a guide to all the major regions of the continent, alongside story hooks and suggestions for potential campaigns, dozens of new creatures and new lore and stat blocks for each member of the legendary party of adventurers known as Vox Machina. Players will also be able to take advantage of an upgraded character system that introduces nine new subclasses and five new backgrounds, all that comfortably function within the Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition ruleset.
Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn will also introduce new magic items, including Vestiges of Divergence, powerful legendary weapons that grow in strength alongside their wielder.
"Taking place two decades following Vox Machina’s conclusion, this sourcebook outlines how Tal’Dorei has changed and progressed leading up to the start of Critical Role’s second campaign, The Mighty Nein," reads the description for Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn. "Soar on a skyship from the metropolis of Emon, home to the Tal’Dorei Council, to the distant haven of Whitestone; explore the lush wilderness in between, meeting monsters and wayward mages; and uncover magic items ranging from simple trinkets to the legendary Vestiges of Divergence. How will you shape the future of Tal’Dorei? The land’s fate is in your hands."
Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn is the work of several Dungeons & Dragons veterans, including Matthew Mercer (Critical Role Game Master and Chief Creative Officer), Hannah Rose (Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight) and James J. Haeck (Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus).
Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn launches in late 2021/early 2022. Critical Role fans will be able to find the book at Darrington Press Guild stores and Critical Role shops. Shortly after the official release, the sourcebook will be available at local hobby and gaming stores. If you're looking for a new Dungeons & Dragons book but aren't a Critical Role fan, keep an eye on the upcoming The Wild Beyond The Witchlight adventure which launches on Sep. 12.
