DC: 10 Heroes That Should Stick To Their Day Job | CBR

In a world where a new threat can show up at any moment and conquer not just Earth but everything that ever was, the DC Universe needs all the help it can get.  The Justice League, the Teen Titans, the Young Justice, and more are necessary to help keep all of existence safe.

But there are still some heroes who probably would do better for themselves giving up the cape and the secret identity and going back to their life as a regular citizen. Either because their job is so important it supersedes most of the work they do as heroes, or because their lives as heroes have been nothing but trouble and they would simply have a happier life if they just stuck to their day jobs.

10 Batman Should Really Be Somewhere Running Wayne Enterprises

Batman spends much of his time cleaning up Gotham, and to be fair, it’s a town that needs it. People often argue that Bruce Wayne could help Gotham more without wearing his costume, but someone needs to fight Gotham’s terrorists. However, Bruce should spend a bit more time running Wayne Enterprises and maybe let Dick Grayson and the rest of the Bat-Family do all the crime fighting. Even now, his constant refusal to be a present CEO has led to him losing access to all of his funds.

9 Vixen Would Accomplish More As An Activist

Mari Jiwe McCabe has the power of an animal totem that allows her to take on the physical attributes of any animal without actually looking any different. In other words, she can punch with the weight of a rhino, or run with the speed of a cheetah. But Mari has been both a model and a millionaire who uses her powers and money for the sake of activism. That being the case, it just feels much more logical to place her in a role that isn’t just working with the Justice League’s worst roster.

8 Green Arrow Should Be Taking Care Of Queen Industries

Ollie thought it would be a good idea if he gave up his fortune and instead fought crime. But what that actually means is someone else was running Queen Industries, and that someone didn’t have the same kind heart he does.

It’s pretending to be responsible but in actuality avoiding those responsibilities altogether. The character most recently has been given control of his company again, but it would absolutely be better if the world had a CEO that actually cared about its workers.

7 Black Lightning Should Go Back To Being A Teacher And The Secretary of Education Role

Jefferson Pierce’s incredible abilities make him one of the most impressive members of the Justice League and the Outsiders. But he’s not the only person with the ability to generate lightning. His other jobs have been some fairly important careers. At one point he was a teacher, helping children in underprivileged areas. Outside of taking out Tobias Whale, being a teacher is far more important in the long run. And that's to say nothing of what he could have done back working as the Secretary of Education.

6 The Atom Needs To Keep Being A Physics Teacher

Ray Palmer is a man considered to be one of the smartest people in the world. He’s a top-level physicist and spends his time when he’s not a superhero working as a professor in Ivy Town. Considering how incredibly difficult it is to become a college professor, his abilities are going to waste being on the Justice League when he could be teaching children. Plus, Ray’s life as the Atom has been nothing but annoyances, what with his wife Jean Loring going crazy in a crossover, and shrinking and discovering the multiverse in another storyline.

5 The Huntress Is Driven By Vengeance In A Way That's Alienated Her From The Bat-Family

Helena Bertinelli has as valid a reason to fight crime as Batman, and there’s one major difference between the two: she actually knows the people responsible for killing her family. In the end, consumed with the desire for vengeance, she went on the hunt for the mobsters who ruined her life.

But in the daytime she’s a teacher, and honestly, that just works so much better for her. The kids could use the education, and because Huntress often has to work alone because of how she handles things. If she’s not joining back up with the Birds of Prey, she should just go back to being a teacher.

4 Aquaman Would Do Better Leading The People Of Atlantis As King

Aquaman is a member of the Justice League and protects a city on the surface like every other hero. But shouldn’t he be spending more time in Atlantis? These days, the fact that he can’t remain committed and splits his time between being a superhero and being a king has led to him losing his control to the throne entirely. The throne now belongs to his wife, Queen Mera, who has had to carry on her relationship with Arthur in secret. Much of this could be avoided if Arthur had just been the King of Atlantis.

3 Doctor Light Seems To Prefer Her Normal Life Over Being A Superhero

Kimiyo Hoshi is a cool character—a young woman who gained the power of manipulating light after some events during Crisis on Infinite Earths. She helps out the other DC superheroes during this time period to defeat the Anti-Monitor, but from there she bows out. After the reset, Kimiyo wanted nothing to do with being a superhero. These days, she flirts between being a proper superhero and being an astronomer/mother. With someone who doesn’t want to be a hero in the first place, she should quit while she’s ahead.

2 Blue Beetle Would Be Taken Seriously As Leader Of Kord Industries Over Being A Superhero

Ted Kord is another billionaire who wants to spend his time fighting crime instead of handling his responsibilities. Between him and Bruce, they could affect real change. Now while Batman is still Batman, Blue Beetle is a guy who has been the butt of the non-powered hero joke for years. The 80s comics discussed Blue Beetle gaining weight and being a hero who was better suited for behind-the-scenes work, but honestly it’d be better if he was just somewhere running Kord.

1 Jade Is Much Happier As A Photographer Than As A Superhero

Alan Scott’s daughter Jade has been involved in one of the best romances of the ’90s. But after serving in Infinity Inc and eventually being given a ring herself, the best advice Jennie could hear is giving that entire life up. She lost her life as a hero, and she only came back because of DC’s many resets. She had a nice job as a photographer, a job that would be more important than ever in the social media era.
