In a reality where superpowers are so important, there are quite a few powerful heroes who seem to be forgotten when the big moments come. These are the heroes who rarely, if ever, get the spotlight, often mixed into the background or used as cannon-fodder when the big events come, if they're shown at all. Some of them could handle just about any danger that comes to the DC Universe, and yet they barely seem to show up when the rest of the heroes are coming together to handle the largest threats.

10 Captain Atom Can Literally Do Anything

The character that Doctor Manhattan is based on, Captain Atom has the ability to control every atom in the universe, making them do whatever he wants whenever he wants. If he wanted to, Captain Atom could turn Darkseid into a turnip, but when the silver-skinned hero does show up for a battle he usually just shoots energy blasts from his hands. There was a time when Captain Atom was one of the leaders of the Justice League, but since those days the hero has only shown up for the occasional event or miniseries.

9 Android Hourman Is Nearly Unstoppable

Created in the 853rd century, the Android Hourman was selected by Mobius of the New Gods to become the keeper of the Worlogog, an ancient artifact that contains a map of all of space and time, from the creation of the universe until its eventual end.

The Worlogog gave Hourman omnipotent power, something he came to believe that no one should have. Hourman broke the Worlogog into pieces and spread them across time and space while keeping some of the power for himself. Even without the full power of the Worlogog, the Android Hourman is still one of the most powerful beings in the universe - but only for one hour a day.

8 The Immortal Man Knows All

Once known as Klarn Arg leader of the Bear Tribe, the Immortal Man gained his power from a jewel he took from a meteorite - the same meteorite that created Vandal Savage. With that jewel, Klarn Arg became, as his heroic identity suggests, immortal. When Arg was killed, his essence - and the jewel - transferred to someone else. That person gained all of Arg's memories and skills.Over the millennia, the Immortal Man has possessed countless men and women, each one gaining more knowledge and magical power. The latest version of the Immortal Man can share his immortality with anyone he touches.

7 Aztek Was Created To Save The Day

The original Aztek, Uno, was raised by the Q Society to become the champion of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. It was Uno's destiny to battle Tezcatlipoca, using a magical suit of armor that gave him unbelievable powers. Uno fulfilled his destiny when he battled Tezcatlipoca, but sadly died in the fight as well.

The second Aztek, Nayeli Constant, took over the title when the Aztek helmet crashed through her window and selected her as its new owner. Unfortunately, readers haven't seen much of Nayeli since her initial introduction in 2017's Justice League of America #20

6 Triumph Keeps Disappearing

First introduced in 1994, it was revealed that Triumph was not only a founding member of the Justice League of America but the team's first leader. On the fledgling team's first mission, Triumph was pulled into a dimensional limbo and erased from the timeline, making everyone forget he ever existed.

The hero came back from his limbo but has never lived up to the promise of his ability to control the electromagnetic spectrum, a power that makes him strong enough to kill Superman with a thought. Over the years, Triumph has died and come back, but he never seems to be around for the big moments.

5 Hyper-Man Is As Powerful As Superman

An even more tragic version of Superman, Hyper-Man came from the doomed planet of Zoron. Like Jor-El on Krypton, Hyper-Man's father sent his infant son into the galaxy just before Zoron exploded, and the baby landed on a planet called Oceania where he was adopted by a loving couple and gained amazing powers.

Known to the world as Chester King, Hyper-Man traveled from Oceania to Earth to meet Superman and the two became friends, but when the Man of Steel learned that his counterpart was destined to die in a year. It was decided that for Hyper-Man to live, he must give up his powers, but in comics, no hero's powers are gone forever, and Hyper-Man is just waiting for a comeback.

4 Doctor Occult Is One Of The Greatest Magic Users

One of DC's oldest characters, making his debut two years before Superman, Doctor Occult is a detective who specializes in cases that deal with magic. Also known as the Ghost Detective, Doctor Occult is one of the most experienced and powerful magic users in the DC Universe, and with the Mystic Symbol of the Seven that protects him from magical attacks and many natural forces, he is very hard to take down. A member of the Sentinels of Magic, Doctor Occult has been called on by the likes of John Constantine and the Phantom Stranger in times of great need and took part in the training of Tim Hunter.

3 Ghost Fox Killer Can Kill Anyone

A member of the Great Ten, Ghost Fox Killer is something of a sister story to the tale of Wonder Woman. Coming from the hidden colony of the Ghost Fox Women, Ghost Fox Killer was sent into the world an emissary of the Ghost Fox Women with the added objective of killing men who would do great evil.

With a single touch, Ghost Fox Killer can - as her name suggests - kill anyone. Making her more powerful, Ghost Fox Killer takes control of the spirits of the people she has killed, using them to complete tasks for her.

2 The H-Dial Could Be The Most Powerful Weapon Ever

Where the H-Dial came from and how it is powered remains a mystery. What is known is that the H-Dial can grant its user amazing powers. The trick is, the H-Dial never repeats a set of powers, meaning that every time it is used, the person wielding the device will gain new and different abilities.

Still, the limits of what powers the H-Dial can give remains unknown. In theory, the H-Dial could make someone the most powerful being in the universe. Of course, that also means the H-Dial could grant someone weaker powers that wouldn't be any help at all.

1 Zauriel Is A Literal Angel

One of the Eagle Host of angels, Zauriel has served The Presence as a guardian angel since the dawn of time. Zauriel enlisted the help of the Justice League to save Heaven from a planned rebellion by Asmodel and the Bull Angels. After saving Heaven, Zauriel joined the JLA full time.

As a literal angel, Zauriel has a number of amazing powers, most notably his sonic scream, which is powerful enough to destroy cities. He also has the flaming sword of the Angel Michael, which can cut through anything, including the very fabric of the universe. Oddly, Zauriel doesn't show up for the big events, like when Perpetua and the Batman Who Laughs nearly destroyed all of space and time during Dark Nights: Death Metal.
