"Characters can explore the setting over the course of four adventures, which can be played together or on their own. Each adventure describes an academic year filled with scholarly pursuits, campus shenanigans, exciting friendships, hidden dangers, and perhaps even romance," reads the official description of Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos. The book includes a poster map that displays Strixhaven's campuses on one side and location maps on the other.

For Dungeons & Dragons players unfamiliar with the Strixhaven setting, Wizards of the Coast elaborated further on what they can expect from the Magic: The Gathering location. "Strixhaven is... a university of magic that was pulled from the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering. There are five colleges in Strixhaven that represent things that translate into a very D&D-centered way," explains Amanda Hamon, Senior Designer at Wizards of the Coast. "It is a very unique setting and it won't feel like anything else you've ever played in the D&D multiverse."

Dungeons & Dragons fans can look forward to a host of new character options, including new feats and backgrounds, as well as new spells and magic that vary depending on which of the five magical colleges they select. The four adventures included with the book will take players from level one to ten and can be run as either solo campaigns or interwoven to create one long adventure.

Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos will allow players to encounter over 40 magical creatures and NPCs, all explained in the book's expansive bestiary. A new playable race, the adorable Owlin, will also be available for character creation.

Players looking to educate themselves on the complexities of magic can dive into Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos when it launches on Nov. 16, 2021. Before that, Dungeon Masters looking for a different sort of magical whimsy can look out for the new The Wild Beyond the Witchlight adventure that launches on Sept. 21. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, maybe Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, which arrives on Oct. 19, will provide all the dragons you're looking for.
