Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash alum Wentworth Miller revealed he's been diagnosed with autism.
"This fall marks 1 year since I received my informal autism diagnosis," Miller wrote on Instagram. "Preceded by a self-diagnosis. Followed by a formal diagnosis. It was a long, flawed process in need of updating. IMO. I'm a middle-aged man. Not a 5-year-old." He went on to note that "The autistic community (this I do know) has historically been talked over. Spoken for. I don't wish to do additional harm. Only to raise my hand, say, 'I am here. Have been (w/o realizing it).'"
In a subsequent Instagram post, Miller wrote that he was "Awed by the warmth + welcome on this page... and by the serious warrior energy. Mixed with tenderness. (Gorgeous combination.) Thank you. Proud to be part of it/us/this."
Miller made a name for himself as one of the leads in the 2005-2009 Fox drama Prison Break, alongside Dominic Purcell. He and Purcell would then reunite on The CW's The Flash in 2014 as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Mick Rory/Heat Wave, respectively. They would go on to appear in the spinoff series DC's Legends of Tomorrow, this time as co-leads, but Miller exited after Season 1 and has since appeared sporadically the Arrowverse.
As for Prison Break, Miller returned for a revival in 2017, but when a further continuation was announced, Miller -- who's openly gay -- said he would no longer play straight characters. "Their stories have been told (and told)," he explained. "So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry. If you're hot and bothered [because] you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one... That's your work."
