Loki's Tom Hiddleston Says Season 2 Discussions Are Underway

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Loki Episode 6, "For All Time. Always.," streaming now on Disney+.

With Marvel's Loki fresh off debuting its Season 1 finale, it appears development is already well underway on the now-confirmed Season 2.

“I am so grateful that we got to do Season 1, I still am not quite able to process that we get to have another go at this. I am so excited by the possibilities,” star Tom Hiddleston told Marvel.com. “We are already in discussions. Deep, deep, deep discussions. I can’t wait to get started.”

“I want to say thank you to the audience because without the audience, we wouldn’t be able to make a Season 2,” he added. “I hope Season 1 was full of surprises. And I think Season 2 will be full of even more.”

The Loki Season 1 finale, "For All Time. Always.," saw the God of Mischief's variant Sylvie kill He Who Remains, the creator of the Time Variance Authority. However, in doing this, she unleashed not only a multiverse of alternate timelines but also He Who Remains' many, many variants, including future Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania villain Kang the Conqueror. If that wasn't enough, the episode concluded with Loki returning to the TVA's headquarters, only to discover its agents no longer know who he is and the Time-Keepers' statues have been replaced by one of He Who Remains' variants.

Although it was only just announced, there've been rumblings of Loki Season 2 happening since as far back as Nov. 2020. Moreover, in early 2021, Loki head writer Michael Waldron signed a deal with Disney that reportedly includes him being involved in Loki Season 2 in some capacity. Before that happens, though, Hiddleston is expected to reprise his role as Thor's trickster sibling in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness -- a movie which, not so coincidentally, was penned by Waldron.

Created by Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, Loki Season 1 is now streaming in its entirety on Disney+. Loki will return in animated form in August's What If...?, a streaming series that will explore what would've happened if major moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's history had played out differently. Hiddleston recently confirmed What If...? will also feature setup for future MCU projects.
