Marvel: 10 Times The Power Of Friendship Actually Saved The Day

Marvel Comics has a lot of teams: the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Defenders (which are reuniting soon), the Thunderbolts, the Champions, the New Warriors, the Young Avengers, X-Force, New-Mutants, X-Factor, and that's just naming a few. It seems that it doesn't take much inclination for a handful of heroes in the Marvel Universe to come together to face a greater threat.

However, a lot of these teams are subject to infighting, and it requires the heroes to put aside their differences, see one another not only as their comrades but also as their friends, and save the day.

10 The Fantastic Four Breaking Out Of The Griever's Nightmares To Beat Her

In a recent story, the interdimensional predator known as the Griever once again threatened the Fantastic Four with the intent of destroying the Earth. She dealt with the FF by locking each member in an individual pocket dimension where their worst nightmares are realized.

However, the Fantastic Four were able to break out of these nightmares and helped one another to do so. The Silver Surfer stalled the Griever while Mr. Fantastic came up with a plan to send Griever to the far future and the end of all reality.

9 The Avengers Reuniting Alongside The Thunderbolts To Beat The Skrulls

When the Skrulls launched their Secret Invasion, the Avengers were defeated and scattered. However, the battle of Central Park found Bucky Barnes as Captain America, Iron Man (then leading the Initiative), and the returned Thor, God of Thunder, leading the Avengers into battle--Marvel's Big Three united again.

Behind them were Luke Cage's outlaw New Avengers working alongside the Initiative's Mighty Avengers, and even Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts and Nick Fury's Secret Warriors joined in the fray. It really was a bunch of disparate factions coming together to save the world.

8 The New And Old X-Men Teams Teaming Up To Beat Krakoa

When the living island known as Krakoa captured Professor Xavier's original X-Men team, he formed a new team. That team had Gabriel Summers in it, but it was seemingly killed. Later, Xavier enlisted the All-New, All-Different X-Men of Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, Banshee, Thunderbird, and Sunfire.

Under the leadership of Cyclops, this new team was able to free the original X-Men team of Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. Together, the old and new X-Men teams were able to finally beat Krakoa and launch it into orbit.

7 Nova And Star-Lord Teaming Up To Keep Thanos Locked Inside The Cancerverse

When best friends Nova and Star-Lord led Thanos into the Cancerverse to kill its corrupted Captain Mar-Vell, the Cancerverse began to collapse. At that moment, Nova and Star-Lord knew that they had an opportunity to rid their universe of Thanos forever. Nova, with the full power of the Nova Force, and Star-Lord, armed with a Cosmic Cube, fought together to keep Thanos inside the Cancerverse as it collapsed around them.

This succeeded in ridding reality of Thanos for a long time. However, both Star-Lord and Thanos were able to escape. Later, Nova broke free as well, and even the Cancerverse itself survived--albeit in a far weaker form.

6 The Original Avengers Uniting To Stop Loki And Forming The Team

The Avengers origin story is a power of friendship narrative in itself. Loki, the God of Mischief, caused the Hulk to go on a rampage intended to kill Loki's brother, Thor. However, it also got the attention of Iron Man, Ant-Man, and the Wasp.

After coming together, the five of them discovered that this was the work of Loki, so the five united and took on Loki. This forced the Trickster God into a retreat, and the five formed the Avengers.

5 The Eternity Watch Uniting To Take Down The First Firmament

When the First Firmament, the embodiment of the first universe, threatened to kill Eternity, the embodiment of the universe as it exists, a team of godlike entities united to stop the First Firmament and save all of reality.

The team consisted of Galactus the Lifebringer, Ego-Prime, the ghost of the Shaper of Worlds, the Infinaut, and the Psi-Hawk. Together, these immensely powerful begins were able to beat the First Firmament and save Eternity.

4 The Avengers And Defenders Uniting To Stop Loki And Dormammu

At one point, Loki decided to ally himself with Dormammu, Master of the Dark Dimension. Their scheme was to set the Avengers and Defenders against one another. This proved relatively easy, as the Defenders were a new team made of mercurial and mysterious heroes, and the Avengers and Defenders went to war.

However, the Avengers and Defenders eventually sensed that they were being manipulated, and Doctor Strange was able to bring both teams to the location of Dormammu and Loki--who had already turned on one another. In the end, the Avengers and Defenders worked together to win the day.

3 The Ultimates Helping Galactus To Achieve His Full Potential As The Life-Bringer

When Captain Marvel formed her Ultimates team--consisting of herself, Black Panther, America Chavez, Blue Marvel, and Spectrum--they intended to deal with bigger problems than the Avengers had ever tackled. First on that list was dealing with Galactus, Devourer of Worlds.

The team took Galactus back to the location of his birth and forced him back into the vast egglike vessel. It turns out that this was a kindness for Galactus, as it allowed him to achieve his full potential as Galactus, the Life-Bringer. Galactus was grateful to the Ultimates, and they found a new ally in Galactus.

2 A Team Of Street Heroes Uniting To Purge Daredevil Of The Beast Of The Hand

When Daredevil took over the Hand, he thought that he would be able to steer the organization in a more ethical direction. Unfortunately, Daredevil didn't predict being possessed by the true master of the Hand, a demonic entity known as the Beast. Under the Beast's influence, Daredevil killed Bullseye, built a vast prison in Hell's Kitchen called Shadowland, and began exerting a tyrannical influence over Manhattan.

The Avengers tasked Luke Cage and Iron Fist to stop their old friend, and the two recruited Wolverine, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Moon Knight, Elektra, Punisher, and Ghost Rider to help them talk sense into Daredevil. In the end, this team, with the help of Matt's best friend Foggy Nelson, was able to break through the Beast's influence, reach Matt Murdock, and purge him of the demon.

1 The Avengers, Fantastic Four, And Kree-Skrull Empire Uniting To Stop The Cotati

In a recent power of friendship moment, the Kree and Skrull Empires united under the hybrid Emperor Dorrek VIII, aka Hulkling of the Young Avengers. However, both civilizations faced a threat in the Cotati, a race of humanoid plant people.

The united Kree/Skrull Empire sought the help of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four to stop this threat, and the two empires proved stronger together than apart. Ultimately, the Empire and the heroes of Earth were able to stop the Cotati and save their new alliance.
